FL emmisions laws

I know FL doesnt do inspections, but will i run into any trouble running a 4-in-1header, a downpipe and a catback on my ralliart? This would take out all the cats, but if they dont inspect, then does it make a diff? Can they require me to prove anything.

thx!

Depends on the area. St. Pete used to do an emission check, but the closed the program. I have not had or seen checks for cats anywhere (Brevard, Orange, or Pinellas County). Often, I see people driving around with only downpipes, so I think you should be safe.

you need to be careful bc some cops will pull you over jsut for being loud, which you will be if you took out all the cats and have headers and exhuast. ive known of cops even getting under a car and tapping on the cat to make sure it wasnt gutted.

Yup...while the STATE law does not require emissions testing, running without a cat on public roads violates FEDERAL law, and can make you subject to hefty fines...I run a Random Technology hi-flow cat...it flows better than the exhaust, so it's not a restriction, and I don't have to worry about the enviro-*****...

the ralliart has a 2nd cat in the header. If I loose the main cat, I can just say the one in the headers is still there. I dont think they will go as far as to make me take the header off!

thanks for the advice, tho!

Florida is pretty liberal about that stuff.. I wouldn't worry about it. Many many of my friends run straight pipes and never have issues. Just don't be reving and showing off around the man.

I agree totally here. My last car was an IS300 with 0 cats. I had a Toyomoto Header into a straight pipe exiting from a GReddy Evo exhaust. It was crazy loud, expecially on a yellow Lexus! I never had one problem, and I did get pulled over 3 times in that car. (I was ticketed twice for speeding, but never given a hard time about my exhaust.) My other vehicle was a 5.2L Grand Cherokee running a straight pipe as well, and that thing sounded like a freakin' NASCAR, but again, I had no issues with the man in regards to noise or catless exhausts. I guess it really does matter where you live in Florida....
