Transmission Oil Flush 09 Lancer GT

My service is due for an transmission oil change, they are asking fr $219 plus tax for a CVT transmission.
I was wondering of getting the tranny oil change somewhere private insted of the stealership, will my warranty get voided?

I'm not 100% sure but i think NOT. If you have proper documentation that the service was performed using the recommended fluid, you should be good. Our family mechanic quoted me around $80 bucks if i brought him the fluids. BUT im not sure if its a simple drain and fill or if they have to hook it up to a computer. best wishes, let us know what you decide and how it turns out! Does your cvt fluid turn brownish?

The dealership does a simple drain and fill for this service. There is no flush involved as this drain and fill will take out 80 percent of the dirty oil. They will require 4 quarts to do this. The cvt transmission takes about 6 quarts but only by dismantling the cvt transmission can you get all 6 quarts out of the transmission. Draining it will only take 4/5's of the fluid out.

The service will entail them loosening a nut below the engine relatively near where you would do the oil change drain. Most ofthe transmission fluid will leak out by gravity and then they re-tighten the nut. Then they pour in 3 quarts of CVT fluid after lowering the car back down. They start the car to make sure the transmission in running normally, then they pour in the last quart until the indicator on the transmission fluid stick shows that it is full. This is what I observed when I had friendly auto do this drain and fill for me once.

I brought my own fluids. The Mitsubishi Lancer's cvt's require the CVT transmission fluid for metal belt type.

I buy from www.autopartsway.ca for about 10.75 a bottle and they provide free shipping at 75 dollars. The dealership charged me 60 dollars for the labour.

That's a total of 43 dollars for cvt fluid that is superior to the diaqueen factory fill and 60 dollars for labour at the dealership for 102 + tax finish.

I have 43000km on my Lancer GTS sportback and have done this service 3 times at the Markham Mitsubishi dealership over 2 year ownership. I like my CVT is peak condition since I like to drive aggressive on my transmission.

You should get your dealership to sharpen their pencil.
