Have a douglas autoworks alternator on our shop evoIX and we love it so far.
Glad to see you guys over here. Met Mike R. a couple years back here at Maxton Mile and saw him break the world record here also last year!

alternator? info?

DouglasAutoworks Jan 6, 2011 01:55 PM

Evodan2004, the alternator you're inquiring about is our high output evo alternator. Here's a link to our listing on our website: http://shop.douglasautoworks.com/Cha...ystem_c109.htm

pretty wicked. might be dumb for my car to use but its worth asking. i dont run anything radical as far as electrical. BR double pumper, spark tech C.O.P. and your typical ricer gauges. would it benefit me to upgrade to this? maybe provide some extra juice to the ignition system?

DouglasAutoworks Jan 6, 2011 03:35 PM

Evodan2004
Our high output race alternator runs a higher amperage which is better for both of your fuel pumps as well as your Spark Tech. It is a definite must for cars with small batteries. On average a stock EVO sees about 14.2 volts, with this alternator in the system we see on average close to 15 volts. An extra volt can help getting the last bit out of different fuel pumps as well as stronger ignition spark at high RPM.

thank you. i might add this to my winter project.

this is why we use it. My personal car has a mini battery and a fuel lab prodigy external pump along with a in dash nav system so having problems with mini batteries in the past and recently taking out the trunk mount to save weight this is the perfect fix :)

TGIF bump..

I'll be adding one of these alternators to my short list this spring. What's the turn around time to get one of these done? If I send mine in, will I receive mine back, modified?

DouglasAutoworks Jan 7, 2011 02:42 PM

mirageEvo
Turn around time is usually 2-3 days after receiving your alternator core. We like to use the customers core alternator unless otherwise specified that they won't be sending in a core. Assuming it goes out say on a Friday and we get it Monday, you should have it to put back on by the following Friday.

Thanks!!! {thumbup} I'll be hooking up with you this spring...I just recommended you to someone replacing their alternator.

SparkTech Jan 7, 2011 03:49 PM

Great seeing you guys on here. The alternator is definitely a nice product and often overlooked.

Thanks for your support over the last few years. Can't wait to see the drag car make a pass on Kill mode. :)

Welcome aboard as a Sponsor on the site also. It's nice to see a shop with all that talent in it and not a bunch of guys guessing and learning on customers cars.

DouglasAutoworks Jan 9, 2011 03:39 PM

Thanks SparkTech for the great acknowledgements and encouragement. We're hoping this year tops last years accomplishments!
