Magnaflow Cat Back system for the Evolution VIII and IX
MagnaFlow is pleased to announce that we have just released our new cat back system #16659 and #16660 for the Evolution VIII and IX. System 16659 uses the angled JDM look and offers a deep aggressive tone. 16660 has more of a conservative look for those wanting something quieter and "stock" looking. For specs on the system’s configuration, pipe size, layout and tip configuration, see picture below:
16659
16660
It features full mandrel bends (no compression bends, like those done at muffler shops) for maximum flow and a straight through, wide open muffler with NO baffles, NO chambers and NO restrictions.
The system installs with simple hand tools and in most cases, can be installed by the average do-it-yourselfer in 30-60 minutes.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

The system is backed by the best warranty in the business (LIFETIME): http://www.magnaflow.com/wideopen/warranty.asp

I will upload some pictures as soon I get them.
The Ti line wasn't a very fast mover. Ironically, not too many people were interested when we had them but now that they're gone everyone wants them.

The Magnaflow system is already one of the quieter performers on the market however I will make note of your suggestion and pass this along to engineering.

The system utilizes a 2 bolt flange to connect to the OEM converter and 3" band clamps to secure the slip joints. Slip joints offer more room in adjustability and fitment. The Accuseal band clamps used do a very good job in staying tight and secure once fastened to their recommended torque specs.
there is no resonator option however you can have a universal one welded into the system for additional sound reduction. I will post the dB numbers as soon as they become available to me.

A reduction is used in the system because this is needed in order to adapt to the stock flange. From an engineering standpoint, using a smooth reduction will flow better and produce less turbulance then if you were to use a 3" pipe with a flat flange connected to the reduced factory converter. Please refer to diagram below.
