TRE: transmission Billet Oil Cooler adapter/Saviour of 4th Gear
#20
"It comes with stainless plugs but I have stainless fittings that have male -6AN. They are HD and have a PTFE seal that seals them up and helps lock them in place in high vibration applications."
"The hole size is 3/8"-18 tpi. I have -6 AN fittings available too."
As far as fitting sizes for the plate is concerned.

I was misunderstood that you need a pump and oil cooler for it to work. That is for cooling the oil. This is an upgraded part to factory plate to splash oil for 3-5 gear.
Thanks Jon for taking the time to give me a call, great guy with great parts for our evos!
The plan is to buy this part and figure out how to mount the pump/transmission cooler after its installed!

Does not have a drain unless you're talking about the inlet/outlet, even still it won't drain out all the fluid.
You do not need to remove it each time you do a fluid change.
It's an upgraded version of the factory oil splasher.

Not really but there are some small passageways and a 60/30 micron dual element stainless steel screen which serves as a filter to keep any metal fragments from passing through the auxiliary pump and heat exchanger.
Does it have a drain?
No it does not have a drain. You can remove the "OUT" plug to drain the residual oil that the unit holds but it'll only be a few ounces.
Do I need to remove it each time I do a fluid change?
No but once a race season or every year would be wise.

Thanks for posting this Waren and thanks to Jon for developing this. For anyone with contact issues I sent him an email at 12am last night, he responded within the hour and the part is paid and being shipped out this morning. Any leads on a pump that will work for our application?

I've been running a TRE Billet transmission cooler adapter for almost 1.5 years now. I currently road race my Evo about 4-5 times a year. Even without a heat exchanger installed on this, I can say the trans shifts consistent and feels strong. Even after repeated hot laps around the track. I also installed the inspection plate cooler for the Transfer case. That rare earth magnet picks up everything and because of the o-ring design, I call pull it off with ease and clean it with every fluid change.
I also added a temperature probe to see what the temperature is. I've been seeing on average 245-255 trans temperatures. After seeing that high of a temperature, I'm planning on putting on a cooler to get the temperatures down and protect the gears; especially the 4th gear.
This is by far worth every penny.

Did you install the pump and transmission cooler with an lines somewhere, I do not see it in your pictures?
Would there be any reason to install a temperature guage on the transmission, what can you do about the high temperature if you do see it, just stop driving it to cool off or what?
