Grimmspeed EBCS

This solenoid valve is very new to the evo community but I would like to share my experiences with this unit. But let me start buy saying this is a great unit. The mounting bracket is very simple to install and took me about 15 minutes to take out the Blitz EBC Solenoid out and put in the Grimmspeed. Once installed now we are off to tuning. This for me has taken me 2 weeks and that is only cause I don't have the time to tune the car for an hour so I have made adjustments in the morning on the way to work and in the afternoon before going home. The best part about this solenoid valve is I hit my peak boost 28psi almost 1k rpm sooner. I'm also holding 28psi straight to redline. I haven't added back the BEC as of yet I want to make one more adjustment tonight log it tomorrow and the boost curve should be perfect.

I want to thank MAP for the group buy that had sometime back and Grimmspeed for sharing this product with the evo community.

Wow great review, I look forward to install this on my car. 1K rpm sooner peak boost? That's awesome.

The funny thing is I'm no tuner either I'm going to have my tuner strap the car to the dyno and see if he can improve on it anymore. If I can somehow hit 28psi before 4kI'll be happy. But this thing is the truth. Myself, my tuner, and The Shop CT owner is so happy with this we are going to suggest that customers buy this vs. MBC.

Yea I've read good things about this product and your set-up looks great too, what did you adjust as far as the map? WGDC adjustments? Mind pointing me in the right direction, i dont know if there is a thread about using this already. Thanks

I dont mean to be rude but its hard to believe that you are reaching peak boost 1000RPM sooner than before. Is it possible that your old blitz EBC was set up improperly or something?

Yes it could be that too. I do have a dyno sheet of my boost. But what i did notice when I would try to make boost spike faster I would blow the spark out. And just to correct myself I'm making peak boost 600rpm sooner which is still good. I'm going to eventually strap the car on the dyno to make sure that everything is ok with my tune and see if he can improve on it.

But here is my original dyno boost plot Name: downloadfile-1.jpg

Don't you mean Boost Control Solenoid? Not necessarily EBC? It's my understanding these things are entirely different beasts.

But yeah, I'm planning on getting the Grimmspeed BCS -- especially since they're local to me and I know some peeps that work there.

Awesome review Damian. I'm glad Junior talked me into the grimmspeed, very quick response compared to old my hallman mbc.

Heh Ralph I'm glad you liked the recommendations. Can you tell me where your hitting your peak boost and what your peak boost is again?

Well you have been a great vendor to work with especially for The Shops needs. And my wife appreciates the "Horsepower for Haiti" movement

Would this be better than a Hallman MBC for stock IX turbo?

Much better if you get a good tuner he or she can tune your peak boost to come in sooner and hold longer to redline. My buddy installed it in his basically stock over 9 and made good power plus I think he only lost 1-2 psi at redline.
