Definitely good results for the price for sure. I might try a 3 port boost solenoid just cause the actuator on this turbo has two ports so having both ports used one could force the gate closed, which might make it spool faster, plus then I could do boost by gear which might help 1st and 2nd gear out with spooling quicker.

that will be interesting, never thought of using that one unused port on the solenoid. if anything a 4port can do the trick as well

Not much new, turbo is still going. Still need to do a boost leak test for peace of mind. Then save up money for a bigger fuel system and some corn sauce.

Turbo is still doing fine. No shaft play. I did have a few boost leaks that I have fixed, I still need to fix my leaking throttle body shaft seals but I don’t think they are leaking too severely. Today I removed the wastegate actuator to restack it for 24psi base pressure. Below are pics of progress.

More pictures

Factory stack was for 16psi base pressure

Restacked for 24psi

all back together

It was easy to take the actuator apart however it was difficult to put together, mainly because I was compressing it with one hand and screwing the nut on with the other. So doing it in a vise or having a helping hand would have been easier.

The reason I restacked the springs is because I noticed that I can hear the wastegate start to open at around 14-15 psi and I was hoping that restacking it will help with spool a bit. After reinstalling the actuator I backed off the Hallman completely, I saw 20psi on the aem boost gauge which reads 1.5psi lower than the jdm 3bar map sensor. So in this case I feel like I should have stacked it for 26psi. I also preloaded the arm about half an eyelet. And maybe I was tripping but it felt like boost came on quicker. I will need to charge the laptop and do some logs tomorrow or the day after to see what spool looks like. Sorry for the chicken scratch unprofessional sentences but I figured I would post a little update on this thing. Happy new year people!

no I haven’t. Still running the Hallman. But eventually I will get a 3 port and hook it up. I can’t make any promises as to when that’s gonna happen tho. Right now the car is gonna get brakes before anything else.

Old grap vs new, was really warm out and the afr was more rich than the one that made more power but you can clearly see there is a difference in spool. Sorry I took a picture of the screen. I will upload a better image at some point.

no, the latest one was done a couple of days ago and oddly the temp was over 50 degrees. That other one was from last year March and I think was around 35-40*
