Competition Clutch Twin Disc Clutch Install and 1000mile review

First off a big thanks to maperformance for the awesome customer service and great prices!!!!

The install went very well and i got to say this clutch is very nice and a quality piece. Although this clutch is so similar to the quarter master, I would still say it is quieter and drives a lot more easier and forgiving compared to the QM. This clutch is a push style clutch but does use the stock lines, stock slave cylinder and stock fork. I have uploaded some pics to show the install and how pretty it is!

I will let the owner come in a tell you his thoughts of how the first 1000 miles has been.

I would like to start off thanking everyone from Competition for making such a good clutch. Wow the difference between stock and this clutch. Shifting is so much faster and smoother... Few drawbacks: Clutch is noisy, so for DD wouldnt recommend.... This clutch was a little troublesome for me in the begining, but after a solid week of driving I got the hang of it. This clutch is either in or out there is no middle ground... nothing that isnt normal just different for me. First launch thumbs UP... way up! Everyone looking for a new clutch this should be on the top of the list. No more clips releasing...

We also had to make a peddle stop for this clutch like the Quarter Master. Which was very easy. If anyone need help with this, just let me know and i can send you some pics!

Whoah the reverse throw with the stock slave cyl is crazy!

you said it was easier then the QM but then said its also either on or off and no in between so exactly in what way is it easier?

the quarter master is a way harsher clutch! Noisy and very hard to drive. With the cc it makes life a little easier.

PM'ed :)

that reverse throw of the slave cylinder is a bit concerning looking. It looks like it rubs against the cylinder and boot.

Wait... you need a pedal stop for the quartermaster?? Cause the shop did not install one in mine.

Yes you need a pedal stop. PM Spoolnup he can hook ya up with info.

FathouseFab May 25, 2009 03:27 PM

You do not need a pedal stop on a QM clutch.

if you press the peddle to far it will wear the disc's faster. If you watch the push bearing on the qm you can see it moves to far, not unless you put the peddle on the floor. You can screw the adjustment for the clutch peddle down near the floor, but with a peddle stop you can make the engagement near the top and make it more driveable.
