Torque Solution Evo X gate selector pivot bushing install review

I've been in contact with Mike @ AWD about testing a prototype Torque Solution gate selector pivot bushing made from delrin rather than the typical brass/bronze like the current AMS and TWM offerings on the market. I already have the AMS in my car but said I'd be willing to install it on my friend's car.

My initial impressions were good, simple bushings but they looked properly manufactured, and look at that, made in the :usflag:

Following AMS' instructions we got the stock assembly removed and took out the stock plastic & rubber bushings.

After fully cleaning all the stock components, using a thin coating of grease, the new tube bushing slid right in with a little thumb pressure; this is where the delrin differs from the metal bushings, the metal ones require tapping with a hammer. During reassembly we used a light coating of grease on all contact and pivot points. When installing the delrin flat washer be sure the side with the lip fits down into the groove; tough to explain but it'll be obvious once you're actually doing it.

Before installing the assembly back into the car be sure it moves freely and isn't sticking or binding, if it is you may need more grease or to loosen the 12mm nut that holds everything together.

Start to finish it took less than 45 minutes, but I had done mine last year so the experience helped. If you're doing it alone for the first time I'd say you can expect it to take about an hour to 1.5 hours if you go slow and take your time.

As soon as I get my friend's driving impressions review I'll get it posted. Before this install his existing shifter mods were:
Cobb short-shifter
Cobb shift knob
Torque Solution base bushings

Ever since I first got my X in September 2008, I've liked most everything about it, other than the notchy, sloppy shifting. Each small change to the shifting mechanism has helped, but I think that this bushing may have done the most out of anything I've tried so far. I feel like now I can shift much more confidently, and I no longer find myself trying to "shift around" the notchiness. All in all, for the ease of install and amount of difference it makes, this bushing is a great mod, and I would highly recommend it to any and all GSR owners that feel how I did about the stock shifting experience.

Torque Solution cable bushings will be coming at a later date, we were hoping to do them today but unfortunately they didn't arrive in time.
