Evo 9 + xede upgrade
Evo 9 + xede upgrade
Has anyone here bought the xede for the evo 9 upgrade (kit) and how is it working out? If not, did xede owners decide to scrap that route (evo 9 + xede) due to what some may deem as a somewhat unreasonable upgrade price?
I ask since I have not seen any post from people regarding the evo 9’s running the xede.

WOW, no one seems to run the Xede on the 9's!?! I have an Evo8 Xede sitting as an expensive paperweight.
I'd buy the upgrade if it was 60-70% off. There is no way I can sneak another $700 past my wife, but with anything up to $300 I have a chance...

AMS flash
I loved my xedy on my VIII with supporting mods. But, the IX price forced me to run a flash wich I am very satisfied with. I think if Shiv would have priced it more competitive there would have been allot of IX's running the setup.

Any more imput on this subject matter, or am I to suggest that the xede for the evo 9 is useless?
Edit: Ok this is beginning to remind me of the Uni-chip (previously developed for the wrx). The lack of R&D led to its demise. It sucks because this is so much better than the uni-chip (i had one of those too and could not sell it).

One fella got his 9 flashed then 5-6 others used EcuFlash to copy and upload his flash into their ECU.
I was going to return my 03 to stock and sell it. I listed my Xede in the FS forum and got low-balled like you wouldn't believe. Its sad because the Xede is actually very powerful.

Would be great if Vishnu did a Xmas evo 9 upgrade sale for around $250 or something. Maybe it would persuade some to use the Exede's on the 9's even though the ECU flash is still going to be cheaper...
The beauty of the xede on the VIII is that you do NOT have to flash your ECU. Your ECU is pristine and you simply take the unit out if you must go to the dealer.
On the IX, you must flash your ECU to change the mivec tables. The xede does not control mivec. If you are going to flash your ECU, then might as well go all the way and flash the timing, fuel, boost and all the other maps.
Add to that the pricing which is not really competitive and almost all IX owners are getting a flash.

I (and probably a bunch of other evo enthusiast) had great optimism in upgrading to an evo 9 and still being able to use the xede. It makes no sense to flash the ecu to only control mivec while having the xede controlling fuel and timing. It’s better to have the flash control all parameters.
Based on a thread posted by a fellow evo member (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=233466), it appears as if the evo 9 xede is still experiencing teething problems. I think shiv needs more hands; his time is being spent developing the xede for the bmw 335i.
