P300x Misfire with XFlash??

Vishnu:

I was reading the top posts in the last couple of days, and I'm alittle scared about this misfire code. What seems to be the problem (a LOT of people are having it) and does Shiv's flash fix it?

Thanks,

-M

The P0300 code is a problem on cars bone stock, all the way up to the highest of HP cars. Mitsu has a reflash to correct the problem, however we are wondering if it will even correct it. From what i have heard the flash only fixes the problem at idle, and not while driving. The problem isnt anything dangerous, its just annoying. We have been testing to see what causes the code, but have not put our finger on it exactly, as of yet. As for now, it wont hurt performance, or your motor. So all we can do is hang in there for a little.

Any news on this? I just got my first one with misfires. Really annoying. Oh forgot to mention. I filled the tank at a station that I usually don't fill up, so it might be bad gas. Also I leave in denver and it happened up high in the mountains Altitude at least 10000 ft.

Yup I get the same crap part throttle after accelerating will immediately result in it and if I don't accelerate hard it will still come on just about 40-50 miles down the road. I did notice when it happens I see my Wideband AF gauge reads really high like between 17-19:1. I get off the gas for a second and it stabilizes again. Very strange.

I have to believe that mine is not so random. I drove twice up to the mountains and it came on at the same exact spot when I was driving back down. I think it has something to do with pressure and AF ratios that the ECU is calculating and compensation with altitude. May I had that I have a XEDE with stage 0+ not custom tuned. Also it's really cold now in Colorado. 10-20 F. Do you guys think that this might just trip the engine into misfiring? Shiv?

UPDATE:
I removed the XEDE today and I haven't gotten a CEL yet. It seems that although the XEDE is not the problem it might just cross over the safety margin and get my car to throw and CEL and misfire.
Couple of factors that are worth to mention:

I have a B&B Downpipe and Catback but still stock cat. I remember reading somewhere that keeping the stock cat on 3" dowpipes is prone to misfire or knocking.

The map that I have is a base stage 0+ installed by vishnu when I sent my XEDE in. On top of that I live in Denver so I am exposed to high altitudes.

I think the combination of these factors pushes the ECU right over the limit.
To fix this issue I will buy a highflow cat and wait for Shiv to come and tune my car. Or I could just bring it to MAC Auto and have them tune it. Shiv? Do you think I should just wait for you? What do you charge for a tune?

Hey guys I just have a reflash and other mods including cams. I have a test pipe as well. I never experienced the P0300 with all the mods until I installed the cams. Just FYI.
