I was wondering if ya'll knew a good primer pump to use for the Perrin PWI-1 Injection kit? I HAVE tried both the stock intercooler pump and stock Windshield washer pumps and the "low flow" light comes on with both. So I guess those pumps cannot supply enough fluid for the much bigger Perrin pump. I've read that if you do not have a primer pump it flows somewhere around 380cc/min but with a primer it can flow around 560cc/min. with my setup I feel I would need a primer pump because of how much boost I'm planning to run. which on race gas would be somewhere around 35-36lbs on a gt35r setup. So on Meth it should be a bit lower. Please help!!! my tune is coming up in a few days

I have no experiance with this kit, but just an idea. What about using two priming pumps. The stock washer fluid tank has two pumps, one for the front and one for the back. What about making it so they both feed the WI pump. Might be worth a shot.

I will have Jeff, our main tech, answer your question(s) on Monday. He is on vacation till then, sorry for the delay.

 

Johnboy, a regular Annco universal windshield washer pump should be fine. I can send you a pressure pump stretcher (806-500) if you do not have this, this should help with priming pump activation.

The priming pump does not need to be very special or have a high output. The priming pumps main function is to assist the system in those situations where because of tank location the Aquamist race pump does not get primed easily. The priming pump can help increase the capabilities of the race pump but I think you might be having another issue if your seeing a low flow light.

Make sure no leaks prior to the pump, make sure the filter is not partially clogged, none of the lines are kinked, and the jet(s) are not partially clogged.

I would suggest a simple test after double checking the lines and the filter (back flush this to insure no particles are clogging it up). Temporarily hook the jet(s) to the cowl to spray on the windshield and go for a test ride (make sure plain distilled water in the supply tank. Watch the jet(s) for the spray pattern and the activation point.

Its also wise to make sure that wiring connections are good, a loss of voltage to the pump can keep it from performing like it should.

Yes I have tried adjusting the gain. It will flash water injection for a moment but then within a few seconds it will turn to low flow.

Yeah but the Perrin actually has wires coming off of its main harness specifically for a priming pump. So would I need the Pump Stretcher then???

I have used the priming pump and the pulse extender on my old 2d setup. At first I used the pump that comes with the Mopar add on IC sprayer then I went to an Annco pump. But I think your running into another issue and not a priming pump issue.

The Flowjet LF-122 can also be used but this cost a little more and is a little bigger then the typical washer pump. If you decide to get this I can send you barbs for the lines that you can just push into the pumps inlet and outlet ports to make hooking it up a easier. If your not looking to save money and you want a very good but simple priming pump use this.
