Finally! FP Green + HSF-5 + Kevin D

Well it was a rough weekend of staying up very late and installing the FP Green and the rest of the HSF-5 setup. I ran into a couple of issue with the Green install that I wasn't expecting. I love it how FP pre installs the studs for the 02 housing, but doesn't include the studs that help bolt it onto the manifold . So after spending more than an hour trying to get the old studs off of my IX turbo, I finally said screw it, installed the turbo with the two bolts temporarily and hit up the hardware store the next day to get some new bolts so I could finish up. Also the oil drain line was a PITA at first, but thats because I tried to shortcut it.

The HSF-5 took me a few weekends of working on my car slowly to get it installed, and I still managed to miss a few things that Kevin D. straightened out for me . I really need to give a big props to Slowcar and Dudical as well. Those guys helped out a bunch through pms and dudicals install guide was pretty good.
I'm happy to say that the car was finally tuned. I have no idea of exaclty how much power I ended up making but I'm sure its over 400whp judging from my Butt dyno , and comparing it to my old STI setup that hit over 400whp on a Mustang dyno. We hit 30-29 psi on the meth with stock injectors and had only one misfire the entire time we were tuning. This is with a brand new set of Denso spark plugs gapped at 0.27. I'm going to regap them to 0.25, just to be on the safe side. Hopefully I can get Kevin to chime in with the graphs and what not. Anyway thanks a bunch guys, this setup is a blast.

List of mods:

FP Green
Evo IX wastegate actuator
Ebay 02 housing
Ultimate Racing TBE
Cosworth Cams
Buschur Intake
ETS 3" FMIC Core, UICP, LICP
Apexi AVCR (Kevin really likes this boost controller )
HSF-5 straight meth
Stock Bypass valve
Stock injectors
Ecuflash by Kevin D.

thats the second to last run we did. the last run we logged we had some knock and then dialed it back to this one again. i actually had one log that showed 446whp, except i think it was one where we were going down hill

edit* for those who are DLL savvy, this is with 400 pounds weight, and no corrections. it was 2 people in the car, sub, amp and PLENTY of tools

just under 30 psi, tapering to about 25-26psi at 7500. remember it is DLL, if we are driving into the wind on one run, and going with the wind on another it can make a difference of 20+whp. i wasn't concerned with making consistent DLL logs for power graphs, we were tuning the car which can be into the wind, up a hill, down a hill, etc etc, which is why the street tune is better then the dyno. oh, and where we were tuning was pretty hilly.

Good point KevinD, I have noticed DLL dyno graphs do vary a lot from one graph to the next. I try to put little stock in dyno numbers and prefer to base my power estimations on track times.

^ the best thing DLL dyno graphing feature is for is doing comparisions before and after mods. if you pic a section of road and do a run (also get an idea of wind direction), then do the mods and tune, and the repeat the same run on the same stretch of road, then DLL is awsome for power comparision. basically you take out the variables like grade of the road, and wind. when you just do a random pull it doesn't mean much.

and you are right, put very little stock in dyno numbers, cause jasons car pulls HARD. 3rd gear goes by REALLLY fast.

tell him to get to the track. Even if he doesn't want to launch it hard, lets just see some trap speeds.

I plan on hitting the track sometime. I have no idea what to expect since I've haven't ever launched my evo. I guess we'll have to see what happens.

The most recent time I went to the track with a friend. He tried coming out slowly and then getting on it, and he also tried launching it hard out of the whole.

The ET changed a lot but the trap speed was pretty much the same both ways.

So even if you get a bad launch or don't launch at all, Trap speed is still a good indicator of power.
