DIY water-alcohol injection system
 

Just trying to gauge how many would like to try their hand at putting a water-alcohol injection system together from scratch? :mitsu:

I remember I did a water sprinkler system on my WRX a long time ago. Off course it was all superficial but neither I have the knowledge not the proper components to make it work to spray inside the upper intercooler pipe.

Now knowing very well how the system works I wouldn't mind doing it again.

I have seen many DIY system working successfully over the years - perhaps someone could list site that describe such systems.

I have come across some very old schematics as old as 1930s. Amazed how the concept keeps creeping up especially for the last few years.

Fourteeen WI manufacturers - I am still counting ! Some mention of DIY systems definately deserves some mention and discussed.

I remember when I use to have my WRX , I use to bring a huge bag of ice cubes and place it in top of the intercooler for a few minutes right before racing it at the track. I also use to pour the ice in the windshield reservoir because that is the actual place where I use to get the cold water from when I was spraying into my intercooler.

Not everyone is oriented as Abner(Slowcar), he has great imagination when it comes to gadgets for the car...:)

EvoM is a great place to share ideas and information, if you are willing to try and asking questions, a good DIY injection system is not too far away :mitsu:

pressure source - diaphragm pump, magnetic piston pump, CO2
MAP trigger switch - a very high quality honeywell hobbs switch or equivalent
Relay - ~40A capable to ensure that the contactors will stand up to the constant switching of a DC motor
nozzle - Hago, Aquamist
liquid level switch
fittings, tubing, wire
*a flow sensor - no flow = no boost
and a good tune
