Super jealous of your garage. Someday I'll something similar if I get my way. Maybe I should have been a machinist as a hobby and not a career.

Ahh, that's understandable. Ive been thinking about picking up a tormach for prototyping and making smaller runs of parts I have designs or ideas for. A VMC would be great but that's a big investment.

For production sized runs I would just farm it out to one of my local contacts I think. Even with the best machine in the world I just don't think I could match the skills of the guys that do it for a living.

Read most of this thread seems you moved along nicely to a real machine. Looks like you need a Multi axes lathe to go with it soon, something with a Y-axis. Better for shift knobs etc... Mill would be better for Proto-typing or 3D work.

Read through the thread, he has a normal 2car garage and no race car now. I'm guessing the answer is no.
