Well, im just new here in the mainland.. and as everyone knows, when you get a car registered, it needs to get smog tested first. Well, today, I was in Oakland to get my car tested.. And well, when the guy looked at my engine, he said that he cant test my car because it had a cold air intake and that it will fail no matter what.. And this is what i wanna know, is it true that it will fail?.. What do people in NorCal usually do who have intakes when they get tested?.. Put back the stock air box?.. And plus my intake should be legal because its AEM.. I remember seein an add about AEM being legal in California... Please help me out because I need to get my car registered soon.. Thank you..

 

yes CAI from aem are legal for wht i know...did u get a sticker with it sayin its leagl so they know its a legal intake...tht might be ur prob. or the guy is one big ***.

 

well.. yeah.. my friends told me that theirs had a sticker.. man.. i need to look for mine.. what if i dont have the sticker?.. are all the numbers the same?.. and man, my last resort is to put back the stock air box right?..

Either way, the system is CARB legal and certified. If that one shop in Oakland doesn't like you, there are plenty of others around. Like it's been said, that guy was totally pulling your chain.

On another note, I'm right next door in Napa, and I know I've seen someone with a red Ralliart hanging around. We should go for a drive one of these days.
