Modified evo stuck on smog test at a STAR station
Recently my 03' evo viii failed smog test at a STAR station which the state required me to do so. The technician showed me the result was failed cuz some parts were either been modified or missing. I don't know looking under my hood is a part of the test or not. Anyway, I failed...
Now I'm considering if it's time to reinstall the stock parts... to weaken the performance. But besides, I kinda know there has to be ways to solve this without reinstalling the stock parts, papers solve, you know. So are there any "special" recommendations to pass the smog? Any answers would be helpful and appreciated! |
now that you failed, put it back to stock and retest.
Assuming you are in CA, if you have aftermarket stuff, make sure you have a CARB OE number for each aftermarket item in the engine bay. The safest bet is to go back to stock. good luck! |

Year and a half I bought the car from him, at that time I was a totally new individual in CA, even the US. I ain't know nothin about the CARB EO number then. So I assume if I could go out there to find a store where can help pass the test IN PRIVATE or maybe some bucks would work? That's it. Thank you so much. |
find someone awesome who you can register it out of state as a co-owner or something. it will reduce a sh*t ton of hassle in your future as CA cops love f*cking with modified vehicles.
