Hi all not new to the forums but new to the Works area. Had a couple of questions I thought best left to Works and there followers. Well i have an 03 evo and i have always wanted to get an exed and get a custom tune from shiv and what not but the more i think about it the less i wanna spend $1500 plus dollars on it, and after reading the differences between flashes i was intrigued to know more about works.

A couple things to keep in mind. Right now i live in Texas and i was all excited to get whatever exhaust i wanted with no cat and not have to worry b/c cops round here dont care(and because i am a cop) and that there isn't that strict of a state insp. But i will be moving to San Diego next year and I won't be a cop anymore so I dont want to be getting pulled over all the time for to loud and shiny an exhuast and having to worry about the Cali insp.

My car is stock except for a cone style filter w/ stock maf and intake pipe. and a forge bov

So I was thinkin more and more about the stealthworks muffler and IP combo.

I have already started piecing together my exhaust. i already have a second stock exhaust mani which i planned on porting and polishing. I also have the larger turbo dump. My next thing to buy would be the 10.5 hotside.

My question is will works brainflash accomadate these things(ported em and td) i read already that they will for the 10.5.

Also it seems that works flash is rated as less of a gain than the competitors flashes all though works are the only ones that hold boost to redline. Are works understating themselves or is there tune just more mild and safe for your evo?

I know this is a lot to read and comment on but thanks for looking and any thought would greatly be appriciated

David

I'd take a look at some of the numbers from the recent Gruppe-S dyno day. The WORKS cars seemed to do decently.

I can't say as far as power goes for works products, but I will tell you that you definately get what you pay for. Works is a little expensive, but the products actually fit your car, unlike a few other vendors. I only wish works was located near me and I'd have them do everything to my car.

no tickets in 3 years? is that why you arent gonna be a cop anymore?

just kidding. good luck in whatever you decide to do with the car. i dont think you can go wrong either way.

i would talk to them directly. that's your best bet.

i am not sure if they can accomodate a flash SPECIFICALLY for your P&P and what not, but they will have a flash for the rest of your stuff.

if you look around you'll find plenty of opinions about works. also check out norcalevo.net

the works p2 flash is basically a mail in flash. they have different flashes for different setups, but whether or not they have specific flashes designed for the applications you described, I dont know. they can do custom flashes, but thats a little hard from Texas!

I've done a fair bit of business with works and I will say the following. Their service is excellent, and their quality is second to none. they sweat the details. Pete is a conservative tuner, who produces good, safe power, which should last you a long time to come. Its my understanding that he wants Works to be the AMG or Dinan (or whatever) of Mitsubishi.

If bragging rights about peak hp numbers, tuned to the ragged edge is your thing, works probably is not for you.

just my 2 cents. good luck!

^ I agree well said.

I debated this same thing for a while before deciding to go with WORKS, I do not regret my decision at all. It is a bit more expensive, but their customer service has been awesome. Also keep in mind would you rather have a peak # or power across the entire band. IMO you cant go wrong going with WORKS

We can accomodate some non-WORKS components with our flashes through the mail. WORKS can definitely do it with the car on-site We do have the Brain Flash for the 10.5 hotside and that would be the most significant of the items you listed. As mentioned, we're not here to play the numbers game. A WORKS tune will provide you with safe and reliable power. While our peak numbers on the P2 may be "conservative" 25HP/TQ gain over stock, if you look further and compare differences at the higher RPMs, we've noted gains of 40+ around redline. This is where maintaining the boost certainly proves itself. The quality of our components are (as David mentioned) second to none which is why WORKS can offer the Factory-Matched warranty. Feel free to give us a call or take a trip up north once you arrive in SoCal

I was at El Cerito mitsu the other day, and was asking about what aftermarket parts would void my warranty, when one of the service writers grabbed a works catalog out of his desk and said that they will be dealing directly with works and will still honor the warranty with a lot of the parts they sell.
