AJR-coco - wow man, you just got your car few months ago and your getting all these parts on your evo. you said aj racing sponsored your evo? does that mean they are covering all the costs of the work done on your evo?

PS: if you go to ER for your first tune, you dont have to drive back again for a retune. one of the forum members here got his evo 8 tuned down there. never went back again for a retune. why? because hes got the cable to hook up on his evo to see his map. with this, you can reflash your ecu, then ER will update it according to your additional mods.

this is from my understanding though. armed if your around, feel free to chime in!

Yup, that's me. Aaron is the expert for sure. I have a tactrix cable, evoscan and ecu flash. I can datalog and write new rom's from English Racing. After my initial tune from ER, I have been able to make all adjustments from up here, over email. So I just datalog, send the logs to Aaron, and he sends me a new rom. My BIGGEST piece of advice to those wanting to make the trip to English Racing:

Fill up with Chevron 94 RIGHT TO THE BRIM, and carry extra jerry cans in your trunk. If you leave at 3am, you should be rolling into the shop at opening, right around 9:00am. The tune and dyno time will be about 300bux for a 4g63 car. Evo X's aren't as easy to tune and do not make the initial gains an 8 or 9 will make. (NOT hating, don't get me wrong, just don't expect over 315awhp with a boost contoller and a downpipe) Once tuned, you should be fine if you brought your own juice. You will not make it on a full tank, and if I were to do it again, I'd bring my own fuel supply. I ran out on the way down and filled it with Shell 92 with ethanol. This is why I had to datalog and retune my car once I got it home. It doesn't matter if you run out on the way back, you'll just drain the tank anyway and refill it with Chevron 94.

They are the experts, and you'll save time and money by just biting the bullet and making the trip. I think in no time, there will be a shop up here that can offer a simular grade of service, but for right now I can't say enough about the professionalism and huge knowledge base of English Racing.

I know it'll void my warranty... I'm going to wait until this motor's broken in and then I'm probably going to drive out to Lightspeed in Alberta to do my tuning and work. It's a bit of a trek but they've tuned a ton of Evo X's and I'm just getting all the work done at the same time.

I was planning on doing the same initially but the motor kicked it too early.

The goal is 300whp and 320wtq. They've done dozens of mods exactly like this one, a pretty reliable set up actually.

If it blows up again I'll be sure to let everyone know. And i'll also be asking for donations since Mitsu won't cover it after all the mods!

Make sure to check your wheels when they are done. They are well known to forget to put lugs back on or even tighten them back up when they are done. A member in the 09 Ralliart section had that happen to him about a week ago at Lightspeed.

I had my WRX tuned by Pat Richard at Rocket Rally. All I can say is, yes it's expensive, but it's worth every penny. He does an amazing job and the resulting tune is flawless, the car is so smooth it's unbelievable.

Well i just got an Evo, and Im in Nanaimo. Ill be in Victoria the weekend of the 25th, and ill actually be all over the Lower mainland tomorrow. The 22nd of Sept. Im in a blue VIII. As for Rocket Rally, my buddy in his WRX has nothin but good to say. Hes not in an sti, just a wrx, and with the stock turbo, he was still able to make just shy of 300hp.

I'm in Ottawa Canada...I haven't seen one EVO although I know there are a few around or so I've been told by the dealership. I've seen a few basic Lancers, GT's, and Ralliarts so far...in my rear view mirror. LOL...I'm just teasing (my good friend just bought a GT)...they are all nice cars.

Any plans to modify your 6 spd box? I have heard that the stock MR box does not like power and 4th gear in particular does not like sustained loads on a track. I have no idea how much of it is hearsay and whether a trained and disciplined shifter can prolong the life of the tranny indefinitely.

I think its all bs or some...because it really depends how you drive your car..if you aren't rev matching and launching ur car then basically yea and tranny would fail.

I will go down tracking and see what happens. Hopefully everything would be ok...but if anything does happen Shep will do the reinforced rebuild for me!

thats why im going to pickup a 5spd down in California

i rev match and dont launch my wrx, hence probably why the clutch is still holding up at 215,000km haha.

i hear the 6spd's isnt as strong because they had to shrink the gears to make it fit into the same case right? just make sure you take her easy in 4th
