Great, so Mitsubishi are searching for something to blame other than themselves.

Lets add a poll to this thread and find out if Mitsubishi's assumptions are correct.

Interesting, but doesn't help my particular situation. I was crusing at 79mph, light throttle, when mine happened. Had something like 34 deg spark advance if I remember correctly. Oh, and I've never used race gas.

However, the code only happened once, the light went away after a couple weeks and I haven't seen it since. I've been told that it was probably the result of (in my case) a quick throttle input change (on/off throttle) at a low-load. I wish I had a copy of the info...

Oh, one last thing: I was also told the engineers know this is a problem with something in the ecu code.

Unless they put something else in at the factory mine has never had anything but 93 octance in it. And better than 90% (estimated) of the time it's been from either BP Amoco or Shell, seems run a bit better on Shell.

Mitsu is trying to get out of every warranty issue. This kind of customer treatment is shamefull and disgusting when you go out there and hand them $30,000. I have never ever heard of a misfire caused by "RACING FUEL" or the same fuel damaging injectors. This bulletin message is a "fix" provided by a Mitsu tech that replaced both plugs and injectors and got rid of the code. I got the misfire code frequently with never before putting any race fuel in my Evo, unless Mitsu is considering 94 octane race fuel!!

Hahahahaha! So if I run Sunoco GT 100 I've voided my powertrain warranty?!? Hahahahaha!

Gee, I wonder if Lotus voids portions of the warranty on the Elise when one of them finds it's way to the track. Somehow I doubt it...

I would think as long as it's unleaded race gas the octane rating shouldn't matter as long as it's above premium. (92 or 93) I don't think the owners manual says not to run higher than premium octane. I'll have to look.

Guys this pertains to the sticky injector issue, which is not nearly as widespread as the knock sensor/transmission/resonance issue. See the first post on this page:

Man, this really does show some poor management at Mitsu. I mean, c'mon, DEFINE what it is that makes the injectors stick. They are just asking for pissed off customers with this kind of mentality. Gives every tech in the world license to correct an 0300 by replacing the injectors, claiming race fuel, and charging the customer for what ultimately isn't a fix. It's just plain stupid. Popping comes from fouled plugs, which could indeed be from using lead or additives. But it would be cured by replacing the plugs, not the injectors.

i dont think this is mitsu fix for the PO300 just a service bulliten for tech to observe if they encounter P0300 problems. i will say this though. mitsu is retarded how are you gonna build a car and call it a sports car, make comercials showing some guy tearing it up on some mountain road, and then not warranty a thing when the customer breaks something and call it abuse? thats dumb and i hope mitsu reads this. if you dont want people to drive the car hard, dont build a fu**in sports car, what else are people gonna do with it.

oh and hondas lol, well there even more garbage than mitsu's. take it form someone who was a mitsu tech and now a honda tech. i do a honda tranny a week and theres NEVER a day when theres not one in the shop for one. and the srs system, junk every car has problems. theres like 1 million tsbs for each honda where theres maybe 30-40 for mitsu's. yeah alot are for easier diag for the techs. but hondas just have problems. and i dare anyone to go drive new accord or element or oddessy/pilot (same thing) without hearing 50 rattles. there junk pure junk

honda lost there touch in the mid 90's when they starting building cars in america and mexico. only thing keepin em going now is there reputation.

oh yeah by the way honda is been dabbing in ford, some hondas even have a few ford parts on em even the s2000 (rear end).
