Timing belt install question

Hey guys I was doing a camshaft and valvespring install, my cam gears were as close to tdc as possible they were practically right on and while doing the install the belt got timing belt got loose. so took off the auto tensioner and stuff to get to the timint belt the crank got rotated a bit and now cylinder 1 is not tdc. so do i have to take off even the balance shaft belt and re do that? or do i just rotate the crank till the tdc marks line up then make the cam gears line up as well then reassemle everything? A lil guidance would be helpful and appreciated

ps... my intake came if quite a bit atdc do I rotate the cam gears while I rotate the crankshaft or after i get the crank sprocket to tdc? also if i do rotate the cam gears just rotate them clockwise right or does it not matter if i go counter clockwise?

Get the crank at TDC then line up the cam gears.

Just make sure the marks on the balance shaft gears line up with the marks on the oil pump cover, it may take a few rotations of the crank to line them all up. The balance shaft belt turns one of the balance shafts and the front balance shaft is turned with the timing belt so that is the only one to really pay attention to. The cam gears can be rotated both ways.

If the balance shaft belt hasn't been removed there is no way it can be out of time.

If you turn the crank much without the timing belt the pistons will be hitting valves. If it is rotated a tiny bit then move it back. More rotation is a no.

but in the manual it says specifically to not turn the crank counterclock wise .. should I just remove the cams set up the tdc crank marks then reinstall the so that the valves won't hit the pistons like Barneyb states? I want to finish tonight so any help is greatly appreciated

This would be a good way to go about it.

not yet been busy haven't been to the shop lately, gonna finish this weekend. Y u ask? :-) ... the install is also relatively easy actually not as hard as most ppl say it us at least for me it wasn't. the only thing I recommend is getting the Mitsubishi tool to rotate the tensioner pulley on the timing belt it will make it easier lol

nearly done just need to put the side mount back on and put the valve cover and oil then start . Side mount was giving me a bit of trouble but i think its cus the car is still on the jack i believe it needs to be on the ground so its all level.. Can someone chime in on the passenger side motor mount install? just asking cus i spent like 30 mins trying to get the darn bolt thru the mount but like I said car was still in air im guessing that threw it off to where it wouldnt fit does it need to be on the ground in order to get the bolt thru? appreciate any help

I'd get it on the ground first and drop the mount onto the 3 studs so it's loose until everything lines up.
