I haz new JDM, EVO 5 RS
recently moved back to Japan, and just picked up an EVO 5 RS. I have a lot on the docket for what to do with the car already. I'll be using it for Gymkhana/auto-x competition out here so it's got a future in being driven hard. For the future:
First off:
competition brake pads, project-mu Comp-B
SS brake lines
Coil overs, still shopping.
Going to wrap my Ralliart R01 wheels in some new rubber and throw them on the car
Gotta get a new driver seat, RS seat has no support. Might just do a full GSR interior swap
Eventually build the engine.
Gear already on the car:
Monster Sport Catback & Downpipe
Monster Sport intercooler pipes w/ battery relocatin
Monster Sport intake/carbon air box
Previous owner installed GSR Brembos
Greddy Profec-B boost controller
HKS turbo timer
Defi Boost gauge
Cusco sub frame brace
Evo 7 wheels
Enjoy! More photos to follow!

Beautiful! I may be coming to the Japan (Nagoya area) for work on a 2 year assignment and I'm already making a list of cars I want to drive there. If I may ask, what is the total cost of ownership for something like your V? I was considering a IV if I can find one, or a R32 GTR.

yea, the RS seats are weak. That's why I'll be swapping it all out with a GSR interior.
It depends on where you buy it. If you're military and SOFA status then your car will be a "Y" plate. You can buy "Y" plates from other americans but in my opinion and past experience (second time to japan) alot of them tend to be beat down. I bought this one from a Japanese dealership. It was ¥700000, but because the exchange rate really sucks these days it ended up being just under $9k. But it met most of my wickets for what I wanted, only has 106k km and an extensive maintenance record with the big 100k km service recently done. Evo IV though, I see alot of them for sale, they're a lot cheaper than a V or VI. There's alot of sites you can brows through cars, pm me if you want.

That is legit! Looks super clean for that kinda mileage too! The seats look like your crawling into a Mirage though... How would you describe driving a V having owned an VIII? Does it have similarities in feel, just not as "refined"? Or does it feel kinda like an VIII, just more "raw" as it's said of older Evo's? What are some of the biggest similarities/differences you notice between the two?
