Thumbs up Installed Pics of GT Spec "Trunk Cage"

First off I would like to thank Adam @ Z1 Performance for sending this product to me at a great price. The install is very easy as it just bolts in. No drilling required and just a little bit of discomfort as my giant rear end was bent in all sorts of angles to be able to get into my trunk to tighten everything down.

Overall impressions is that the install looks great and there is still trunk room for groceries. Now for the good stuff. The car feels more solid in long sweepers especially over bumps while the suspension is being compressed. I'll be able to really tell after a few for miles of testing, but there is definately a difference you can "feel" in the car. It just handles "bumps" better if that makes any sense.

Here are the photos:

Yes, the trunk bar itself mounts where the OEM rear trunk bar goes in the RS.

See in this photo...this is how the vertical bars mount to rear bar. The bolt goes through the mount and the bar into the floor.

That's pretty trick. I'd heard about this a few weeks ago. Thanks for posting the pics. Now I can get something that not only reinforces the chassis, but also keeps my groceries from rolling all over the trunk!

Great piece

We have one installed in the EVO hear and it is great!!

GT Spec makes some very good stuff

How do you feel the car handles now? I would like to hear your opinion on it.

Well it feels like it does not get upset over bumps as much while going around turns. I intentionally went quickly over some rough curvy roads and the car stayed planted better. Sometimes when I hit a bump just right it felt like the car sort of wobbled. Now it stays true to the road and I do not experience this "wobble" anymore.

Also the car just "feels" better. It is not some dramatic change, but you know there is a change...and for the better. It is hard to expalin because you get to know your car, but the car does feel more solid.

These bars are are really solid. I've never seen any of GT Spec's products before and I am really impressed by the quality of the parts and the finish.

Also, my trunk is completely black but I think my digital camera's flash may have caused that glare. I installed this in my garage and took the pics in there to. It was about 8:30 at night.

Well currently they are back ordered through GT Spec. If you really want a set I would recommend getting on backorder for them

I got mine from z1auto.com, and from what I understand from Adam I got their last one.

Wow! that looks awesome. I already have the RalliArt rear strut brace and the EVO RS trunk bar, so I'll probably end up going with the Mines Crossend bars instead. Wish this product was around in '03.

oh ok, thanks, when I saw this photo at first, I lost all sense of direction b/c it was zoomed in...I got the bearings now...

In theory this setup should be "better" than the Mine's crossbar right?
