Pretty sure I thought this was a standard setup for wide body kit evos.
Sorry, Cant offer any real help. Wide body fitments are out of my league. Search around, there are plenty of wide body threads out there. The +15 w/the 10.5 & the 285/35 tire does sound on the extreme end of what Ive seen in the WB conversions

Heres an 18x10 where one member was running over fenders

Just made the executive order to cut the front fender and side skirt and move it back. Lol

hey guys, i'm getting a set of gram lights pretty soon. I've never bought wheels for a car before so this is the first time for me. Out of these 2 wheels that I'm looking at, which would be the best choice, the only difference is the offset (would they fit..?). I'm on stock brembos also.

Wheels are either
GRAM LIGHTS 57DR 18x9.5 5x114 +38
or
GRAM LIGHTS 57DR 18x9.5 5x114 +22

Those are truly polar opposites IMO. The +22 is a very tough wheel to fit correctly & the +38 is our stock offset. I prefer somewhere in the middle +28 to +35 would be a better range
As an example I ran these no.s for you. 18x9.5 +22 running a very modest 255/35. This pkg will require the full rear fender treatment. Roll, pull & likely the bumper bolt relocate. If you are OK w/that level of work than the +22 would be your best looking pkg

Running the +38 w/the 255/35 you can maybe get away w/no rear fender treatment (maybe a slight roll due to the 9.5" wheel)

if i am going to run a 17x9 RPF1 whats the ideal offset to run front and rear? i was wondering if a 30 offset would work all around
also what tire size would be good, 245/40?

Sure, that wheel & tire combo will work. You will likely need just a bit of rear roll running stock camber

Most RPF1's require a front spacer. Not familiar w/the +30 RPF1

The 245 is a slight stretch but is Ok to run on the 9" wheel. The 255/40 is more of the go-to wide tire that a lot of EVO guys run but will require more than just a fender roll

Again, this opinion is based on running stock camber

Side note: I run 2 similar wheels 17x9 +29 w/255/40 track & 17x9.5 +30 w/275/40 street

Quick Question

Okay so I am running some weds 17x9s on my car currently running 255/40/17s right now but my car is on stock suspension. I am going to put coils on my car and lower it. I was also thinking about stretching my tires but I just cannot decide. I just don't see many evos with stretched tires. Anyone else ever seen it? If I was gonna stretch I was gonna run 215x45x17s. If I lower as well and decide not to stretch should I just stick with the 255s or will they rub when I turn or anything?

-thanks.

Stretching is fine as long as you stay w/in the tire width vs wheel width parameters.

My chart shows the 235 tire as being the narrowest that can be run on a 9" wide wheel

If you give me your wheel offset I can run it on the calc

BTW, if you visit the Stance thread there are many running super stretches if that is your desire

Answer to that question

My offset is +35 from what I hear that is the perfect offset for the evo.

Yes, +35 is a very modest & workable offset

Ran your no.s using the 255/40. Looks Ok for a no roll rear but you are getting close at stockish offset

Get those C/o's & get the ride height set using your 255's

i got some volks ce28 TA 18x9.5 +34 with bfg gsports 255/35/18. i mounted my bare rim on car. the rears look pretty close to the control arm and the fronts clears the brakes but it very close and i dont know if it will hit my suspension in the front. i didnt get to lower the car on the ground with the rims on the car. do u think i need some spacers? my friend was saying 10 mm but i think i can probably be fine with 5 mm or 7mm. should i get extended studs?

Dont think you will have an issue w/the rear control arms using a +34. You should have at least 1/2" gap

Up front, how much clearance do you have between the spokes at the caliper. If you have 1/8" or better I would think you should be OK. See Volk link here. The OP is actually running your same wheel. Send him a PM or search the entire thread for other posts

EDIT: I read the thread. One other poster noted that he may have to get a front spacer on the +34. As you noted, it may be razor close. Dont need those spokes flexing into the caliper!!!

Great looking wheel but no real good way to tell if they will clear the front caliper. That dimension is known as the X-factor (distance from the hub mounting surface to the back of
the wheel spokes. This cavity allows for brake caliper clearance)

You will need to find someone who has run them or test fit them. The one dimension on your side is the +25 which usually makes it easier to fit than say a +35
