GSR Transmission fluid...RP anyone?

been thinking about changing my gearbox (manual transmission) fliud for 75W-140 or 75w-90, OR just Royal Purple's synchromax manual transmission fluid?

anyone use this before?

if not what'd you use. any reccomendations?

also- do we need GL- 5? or GL-4

EDIT- the reason I ask, is because i read this thread: http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14420

but doesnt mention RP anywhere... or if its GL4/5

there was thread long time ago about royal purple trans fluid how it messed it up. I would go with cocktail mix on the trans. I heard good things about it.

just so you guys know, MT-85 IS NOT for the evo X in straight form. the x requires a different viscosity than previous model evos. the redline cocktail (2mtl, 1 mt90) is almost exactly the same viscosity as OEM. this info given by Kracka to me in the past. Just passing it along. and it is GL4

I use AMSoil. AMSoil is a little rough shifting at first for about 1 minute or so if it is cold outside, but once it warms up it is really good. Most people use either AMSoil or Redline fluid.

I used Royal Purple in my previous Evo and I will never use their oil again.. I would burn about 2qts a week. Others have experienced this too in STis, S2000s, etc.. I changed my oil again with Mobil 1 and had no problems. I have never used their Gear Lubes though..

RP = junk

The Redline cocktail is the only transmission fluid I recommend, I actually just drained/filled mine this weekend. Gotta love fresh fluid

Hey Kracka, what do you find to be the main difference from the OEM to the cocktail?

What about diff fluid & transfer case fluid ? do they need to be changed at same time or not. Or just tranny is the most important one.

Please if someone could answer this for me.

And do you use the same fluid for transfer and diff ? or its completely different

Im just lost right now, really could use some help
