Nice write up. I believe I tapped the power into the correct red wire you mentioned, but the ZT2 is not powering up. I have a pre 2009 model from my old Evo 8 and its been sitting in the top of my closet for the last 5 years, so I'm not 100% its working. Before buying a new unit, I wanted to trouble shoot this one.
Anyone have issues with tapping in this location for power? My radio and air bag panel is not plugged in right now, would this matter?

Yeah, I was going to use the yellow wire of the stereo harness. Then I realized I was then half way to the fuse box. So I make it clean and added a distribution block. My radar detector, ZT2, and phone are now hooked up to the distribution block.
If ever needed it will be easy to add / remove electrical items.

Few last questions, and I should be good to go.
For connections to the ECU for TPS and RPM's which ECU pins did everyone use.
I would assume TPS to pin 10 Throttle position sensor (main).
Which one for RPMs?
I'm looking at the diagram here: http://roadraceengineering.com/evox/...-ecuwiring.htm
and can't seem to find the correct pin for RPM.
Also for which exhaust manifold port (cylinder number) are people using for the EGT probe? One the Evo 8's we used cylinder 2, any different for the X.

for speed I used the wire in the stereo harness

I know this is an old thread but I used this as a guide to route my cables and then power my gauges however I didn't get any power after tapping and soldering into the thickest red wire I found. Here is a picture of where I tapped (you can tell I don't have a lot of experience with solder).

ok after looking back there again it looks like it was the wrong wire that i tried to splice into.
This big red one was probably the correct one. Haven't tried it yet though ran into some other issues with my install. Anyone know what that first wire was that I tried to splice in to is for? Hope I didn't damage anything.
