EVOlander
Since we finally took this thing to a car show and ended up winning best sleeper, I figured I'd share it over here. We started this project about 2 years ago after it came from another shop who really didn't know what they were doing to this thing. It's been running for almost a year but we've been slowly throwing more and more parts at it to fully integrate EVO DNA into it.
The EVOlander started life as an '03. For whatever reason, a certain shop told the owner before he could do the EVO conversion he had to swap to an '05 Outlander to get the manual transmission. This was the stupidest thing ever! The '03's use the 4G64 SOHC head and the engine harness would practically plug in to the EVO engine with just a few extensions to certain connectors. The '05's use the MIVEC SOHC and partial drive by wire. Needless to say, in order to do the conversion I peeled the engine harness all the way back to the firewall and had to convert many many things and basically recreate a custom engine harness, especially since I converted from the 5 plug ECU side to plugs to interface into an EVO 8 ECU.
It's mod list is as follows:
AMS 2.0L
HKS 280s
EVO IX turbo
6 spd MR transmission
RS non ACD tcase
Exedy Twin
EVO IX rear diff
EVO front knuckles
EVO front axles
EVO coilovers in the front, base lancer struts in the rear w/ 08 Ralliart springs
EVO 8 Brembos on all 4 corners (front was easy w/ the EVO knuckles, rears took some grinding to fit!)
EVO X wheels
Buschur FMIC
Custom IC piping
Modified Buschur turbo back
EVO 8 ECU w/ ECU controlled boost
This thing is SCREAMING for a top mount turbo setup which I'll probably make here in a few months once we go for some big power on it.
Needless to say, after doing this swap I bought an '03 for myself. I won't be going as crazy on it, but it's getting a DOHC head and a turbo kit I had on my Galant. 300whp for a DD grocery getter? Yes please!

I saw this the other weekend out at the King show. Thing is ridiculous man, only thing that really bothered me about the car was the wheels being all chipped up (the gold paint was flaking really badly), but if you want that "sleeper feel" I guess it works. Either way, kick-*** build!!!

Well those technically aren't the wheels for that car. The owner decided to have 255 45 18's on a set of pristine X wheels and they rub like a MFer! We had to toss those on like 30 minutes before we rolled out to the show just so I could drive her there. That being stated, I really like it much better w/ the bronze than the OEM silver!
But yeah, those other wheels are pretty chipped up!

Yeah I ended up purchasing this vehicle from my customer for it to be a shop demo vehicle. The built 2.0L is coming out and a built 2.4L is going in w/ an FP Black and a Shep built 6spd with upgraded final drive.
It should be pretty bad *** when it's all said and done.

After sitting around for a while I finally got motivated to get back on the EVOLander. I pulled out the AMS 2.0L and the stock 6 speed. Things are starting to get interesting.
10.5:1 LR 2.4 bottom end.
Former Cosworth cylinder head reworked by the master Dave @ Headgames
Exedy triple
Built Shep 6 speed w/ upgraded FD
Stage 2 Shep Tcase w/ hardened ring and pinion
Currently I have a MAP EF4 on it. It will stay until it blows up like most do. Might throw a 35R on it that I have laying around at some point.
Custom 4" core IC
I'm not going ***** to the walls just yet. Still stock intake manifold and throttlebody. Only 2.5" IC piping. Want to get it running and have a little fun. Then most likely I'm going to put it up for sale as truth be told, at this point in my life I'd rather have the money than the car. I still have plenty of other toys.
Maybe I'll keep it until the shoot out. Would be cool to see a Mitsu SUV click off a 10s pass wouldn't it?
