parking brake

I just got a new parking break cover that says 'ralliart', but can't get the old one off. Does anyone know how it comes off?

you have to cut the stictching underneath the handle and twist it and if that doesnt work heat it with a heat gun and twist it. they use some kind of glue on it i think

I was going to say something like that. Either you install that or take that Ralliart emblem off.

I was looking for info on how to get the brake off. My car says ralliart, because that's what it is, not something its not....an evo. I"m sure your car gets confused with something its not all the time. Don't worry though, if my ralliart ever meets your evo look alike, many people will be left scratching their heads, wondering why a ralliart beat an evo.

Anyways, back to the topic...thanks for the advice, won't be cutting it off, i'll try vice grips. Anyone with other ideas, let me know, thanks.

I think their comments were towards the fact that you are gonna have ralliart written all over the inside of your car. In other words they think you are gonna overdo it. I think they may have a point too.

But jus think. You'll never forget what car you are driving.

I got mine off by peeling the pleather casing off and using a razor knife, slice down the center from front of handle to shift boot. Peel one side around and break the hot glue stuff loose. I made a custom carbon fiber e-brake handle and used the shells of the other handle as a mold. Try that and let me know if it worked for you too. Good Luck.

If you're using vise grips on it, it's gonna get ruined anyway. Why not go the easy route and just cut it off?

ok, don't twist it cause it wont, its kind of on a track so it only goes on and off, not around. I just tried every day pulling really hard, then tried this: it will sound like I'm positioning myself to have sex with the car, but it works...put your right knee in the drivers seat your left in the passenger seat facing the back of the car, put the ebrake almost straight up, then pull as hard as you can. When it slid off I flew back into the rearview mirror and almost broke it. I'm 6'4", it was a ***** but it worked.

...i just looked at the pic of the new handle. how well is that gona fit? from the looks, i see a hole at the base for a screw to hold it in place; also looks too long and might cover the "button". and are you sure its going to fit?

tried it, didn't fit, took it back. the button at the top stuck out only half way and pinched my thumb in the end. BTW, the parking grip is glued and just pulls off with a little muscle, so no need to cut it off as mentionned.
