Replace the speaker in the sub box?

Anynoe try yet or anything?

Also does anyone know the size? for speakers as in volume.. If you know what I mean? I know the box has to be size X for it to work correctly.

I believe that the S&S sub is 8". You'd have to find out the impedence of the stock sub, first, otherwise you risk overloading the stock amp. The other issue is finding out how much power the stock amp sends to the sub so you can find a sub that will run well with that amp. I don't imagine the stock amp gives all that much power to the sub, maybe 40w RMS.

If you're looking to use a seperate amp for the new speaker in the old box, disregard all that. Your main concern would be whether the plastic sub box is up to handing the power and possibly increased air movement (if the aftermarket sub has a greater excursion), as well as being the right volume. I would think the plastic box would flex to much to make it worth reusing.

I tried replacing mine with a new 8 from rockford and the shop said its damn near imposible to find a sub that will fit in there because it is so damn deap inside the box that no one makes an 8 that will fit it. The shop didn't have one 8 that would fit our box and they tried at least ten before I just decided to buy a new deck.

thats what I figured. I didn't want the sun and sound in my car when I bought it but got such a great deal it didn't matter. I don't know a lot about systems and I thought that the speaker was a 10" anyway. I guess first step is a new head unit. Then amp and subs.

Anyone know how hard it is to have all the worked on. I don't do wiring for audio Im to impatient

Not too bad, but if your going to do all that, replace all your speakers and speaker wiring that way you can sell your S&S package.

It's easy. Head unit can be installed yourself in 10 minutes. Very minimal wiring, too.
