removing rear power window surrounds

I have had the car for less than a month and already I have broken it I was taking some of the interior parts off to be sent of to get a carbon fiber finish on them I removed the front door stuff off easy enough but when I got to the rear of the car the surrounds for the power window did not pop out like I thought it would and I ended up breaking it at one end which is still inside the cavity it is still attched but only on one end, now not wanting to cause any more damage I am now seeking advice:-
is the only way to remove these is to remove the door skin and disconnect and replace with new surround?
or is it like I thought it should be and just pop out and then unscrew the control from the surrounds ?

Have taken the plunge and remeved the door skins which was very easy to do... almost too easy... anyway the only way to remove the power window surrounds is to:
remove door handle grips and surrounds
remove top 2 screws from door skin
slide fingers starting from bottem edge in between skin and door and gently pop the push in clips out run fingers all the way around till all are unclipped
then the skin should hang loosely from the window sill of door frame
reach in between and disconnect the power window plug - simple plug attatchment
then tilt door skin towards yourself and you will here it click itself loose
and there you have a door skin that weighs next to nothing and then unscrew the power window surrounds from the motor

then apply the reverse for refitting - since I took mine off I dropped my skins off to get recovered in a blue micro suade
