Cleaned the Ralliart interior a bit
Cleaned the Ralliart interior a bit
Got a bit carried away with a wrench this afternoon. I've been curious about just how much I'd gain if I removed some things. It's too warm out to try to remove the dynamat, but that's only about 15 pounds max anyways. Here's what came out:
Sub box
Amp
Rear seat base
Rear seat backs
Rear deck trim
Seatbelts
All associated hardware with above items
Factory vibration dampening mats
Spare tire, jack (probably won't stay out for daily driving)
Probably removed somewhere around 150-175 pounds. Can't be bothered to actually weigh it out. I stopped short of removing the rest of the speakers, as I still have a 80 mile total commute each day. I need music.
If I like this setup, I may end up selling my subs and amp, though.
Immeidately noticed that the car is much quicker off the line, moreso than I expected. I also notice that every time I stop, I can hear the gas swish around in the tank, as well as the quiet whine of the fuel pump. I also put a progress sway bar on the car last night, but haven't had a chance to see how the weight loss + sway change the feel in corners.
If I decide to go further with this, it'll probably involve removing the rear door panels and the rest of the trunk trim. I don't want to remove anything from the front of the car, as I want it to remain DD friendly. I just never use the backseat. I'm also contemplating removing the power steering.
Last pic is just a shot of my EvoM plate frame.

. I hate stripping a car cause it loses the interior style. But thats not the point of this thread, anywayz u think stripping those stuff will have a drastic effect on the quarter mile? Maybe like .1-.3 faster?

I think it'd have a strong effect on reducing your 60' times. That's just based off of taking a few quick runs after taking all this stuff out. Never been to a drag strip, though, so I'm not too sure.
