Hood Ideals

hey everybody, just to let u know i had made it back from the nopi nationals.and it was off the chain again.will post pictures (as soon as i learn how to do on this site )but while i was there i seen quite of ralliart drivers from near and far, chatted with them for a minute or so .even met up with one who had done some exteriors mods to his ralliart, what stood out the most was is hood it was perfect it was like someone had read my mind.he had his hood modded so that he could allow more air to his turbo kit he had gotten from roadrace,he had told me that there kit is kickass and has even blown serval cars away like 350z,rsx,wrx and has even stay neck and neck with and evo.he also so told me that everyone who has underestimated his ralliart now gives it the respect that it deserves when that turbo kicks in.but his hood was superbly done .it had some precision cutting and some very clean welding done to his factory hood.just also like to say thanks again doug for the chat and the personal reveiws you gave me about roadrace. ........................p.s. can somebody tell me how to post pictures?

congrats dude hope you had fun. With that guy's RA like that I would rather have the ugly gray hood for more air sucked in than anything man!

Ok, just so that I learn here, here's a general car theory question...would this be considered a cowl induction hood, because the vent points toward the rear of the car? Is this style of hood used solely for heat dissipation, or also for intake purposes (on this car, I'm sure it'd be for heat diss. only, b/c the intake is tucked further away from the vent)?

I know that hoods whose vents reach all the way to the windshield on, i.e., carbureted vehicles, had that extra height to separate the intake atop the engine from the heat below...

Also, I remember reading the comment in the thread of reTro's RA, that the turbo belongs there...this car +1

This RA's hood looks like it'll create a similar effect to cowl induction, however, it won't go across the whole engine like a normal cowl induction hood would. The one on the RA would only be pulling air up and over the turbo area, but not the rest of the engine, such as where the IM is. Overall temps would be lower than stock, though.

Hood spacers might be more effective, but it wouldn't look as cool
