04 Ralliart Winter Setup with Hella 500's
Hey everyone, just thought I would add my 2 cents to the winter setup pics. Mine might look a little different than your average RA thanks to 4 Hella 500's. They are ridiculously bright, so I can kind of only use them like highbeams, but I just thought I would try something different. The bar itself is pretty unfinished at this point, not painted, wires still showing, but you get the idea.
It was pretty simple to make, and the whole thing undoes with 2 bolts that go through 2 pre-exsisting holes in the RA. So I'm pretty happy with it. I'll post more pics as it is cleaned up and finished. What do you guys think?

Well I wanted to keep the design of the bar as simple as possible, so it pretty much stays level straight across from the 2 mounting points. And I wanted to keep the majority of the lights in front of the actual front bumper, and blocking as little air flow as possible. The car runs just as cool as it did before, so no problems there.

Otter, I've had 2 Hella's on there as the original design for a while now.. Cops see them all the time, no problems or odd looks. I just can't use them with oncoming traffic or anyone in front of me. But back roads and late nights they are just fine, I've even passed cops sitting on the side of the road with them on late at night. I think as long as I keep using them like high-beams I'll be fine.

Looks good, could you post more pics of your mount
I've got a similar set up with 4 Bosch Rallye 225's (sorry no pics yet) but I need to re-engineer it so it is more stable. My bar is about the same height as the mitsu emblem and has two lights mounted above the bar and two at each end that hang down. Basically, two above the licence plate and two on either side.

Da Moose, sorry I don't have any more pics right now, maybe I can get some later. But in the mean time I'll try to describe it the best I can.
Basically the bar is connected by putting some bolts through some pre-exsisting holes that are back kinda far in the lower opening of our bumper. They are pretty hard to see so just put your hand back in there and find them. So I lined up a piece of bar (about 1 ft) with each of these, welded another piece of the bar between them (the part the lights go on) and near each end, a hole was drilled that lined up with the holes in our cars. Then I just put some bolts in there with some washers and nuts ( you may have to undo some of the plastic covering under the car to get in there good ) and tightened them up. As far as mounting the lights onto the actual bar, put some tabs onto it where you want the lights to go, I think they were about 3" in length, drill a hole to mount the light and weld the tab into place onto the bar. And thats about it really, pretty simple design and easy to do.
