Dealing with Rock Chips

I know we all deal with this problem, I just wonder if anyone has found a worthwhile solution. Has anyone had their hood resprayed with better paint? If so what did that cost you? Just wanted to see if anyone is doing anything special or just letting the chips be and worry about other things.

Sorry - I don't have a good and economical solution, but if anybody does - I'm all ears!

I'm getting my entire front clip, headlights and all, Clear-Bra'd for that exact reason. I have a couple buddies with it, it's worth every cent and you can barely see it!

I would have done that but I bought the car used and half the rock chips were already there. I have to fix the problem before I can clear bra it.

Tell me about it. I have never seen the roads take such a beating. There are huge potholes everywhere. I try and avoid the freeway because there is so much gravel and salt accumulated it is rock chip heaven.

Not sure if this is correct, but I have heard it is not good to do clear bras on red cars due to the paints high oxidation factor.

rock chips happen...there is no true solution to the problem
best thing i do is just avoid following too close on the road, esp the highway.
if you have the money, have a winter and summer setup.

Yeah, my friend who does body work told me to stop tailgating. I'm thinking about respraying the hood and front bumper this summer. We'll see, though, because I will probably be thinking about dumping the car within the next year.

I gave up, I don't care about rock chips and pit marks on the hood/bumper... I'm more concerned about the fact that my headlights are so beat up that the light isn't coming out as good. Gotta take a wetsand/polish job to them in the spring.

Only solution would be a clear bra, but even still those aren't perfect.
