Under Climate Control (AC) DIN mount

I am looking to mount a DIN component underneath the climate control on the 04 RA (no Sun & Sound). I have seen a facinating photo in another thread (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...7&postcount=11) and want to know more about what people have done for this.

Can other users please share the following information?

1) Solutions for Trim (e.g. modifying current "shelf", creating new trim, parts to use from other Lancer versions / years, etc.)

2) Solutions for Mounting brackets (e.g. if not jammed into the shelf, was it mounted to brackets here and there, what brackets, where did you get them, etc.)?

3) Any problems with clearance to the shifter knob (e.g. CD ejects, visibility, flip-out video screens, etc.)

4) Best places to grab Battery, Ground, and Accessory signals (I am assuming grabbing from the back of the radio up above)

Thanks much!

The lower DIN unit replaces the shelf. I'm not sure where you purchase the unit, mine came with the Mitsu sport meter package available for the Evo.

He used the factory deck relocator that comes stock with the mitsubishi 6-disc changer. For the stock 6-disc, the factory deck is in the stock location, and then the 6-disc part is in that extra DIN below the climate control. Just go to your local mitsubishi dealership and give them this part number: MZ598263EX
There should be no clearance problems unless you have an unusuaully tall shift knob. It should come with mounting brackets, and just tap into the stock wiring harness for everything else.

Next time, try a simple search.

Thanks for the info.
I searched quite a bit for this in the forums, but never found the answer. Probably since I was searching for "second DIN", not "relocate DIN." Hopefully the next guy to come along will find this.
I had no idea that this animal even existed, but now I do.
