Audio???

I know nothing about audio for a car. What do I need? An amp, A sub, a better deck, but what else? Is that all I really need for it to sound good, or is there something important I forgot?

Thanks. Please let me know. Also, what is a good brand?

Upgrade the speakers too...your music won't sound too good with a ton of bass over crappy speakers.

the best thing to do would be a amp better head unit some speakers and subs...
i went with 6.5's and 2 kenwood tornados 12's and a 1000 watt amp with pioneer head unit sounds real nice.... but for sure upgrade the speakers the subs drowned out the stock ones so i went with the kenwoods and now u can acctualy hear what there saying in the song

Unhappy

Is it possible to get the same sub enclosure that comes with the S&S package but for the opposite wheel well? I want some more bass and I like the look and size of that box. If I could get it on the opposite side I think it would look nice and take up very little trunk space. I already asked the dealer and that was a no go. They actually sent me to the car audio installer that they work with and they told me to check Crutchfield. I couldn't find anything there.

To get something like that, you'd probably need to go to an audio place and have them make a custom enclosure for you. It's pretty standard practice these days, since everyone is all about getting custom boxes molded into their cars.

Do you have the sun/sound package? If so, all you would have to do to maximize the sound outta that is replace the head unit with one that has more functionality (alpine, eclipse, clarion for good ones), get the soundgate adaptor cable to run to the S&S amp, and then get another sub for the trunk.

Truthfully, if you know nothing about audio, take it to a shop and let them do the work. The other thing you should do is get some books on car audio and read up on it. (and yes, post in these forums) Ya can never learn too much so read read read, then do it. If ya screw something up, it's a learning experience.

I am putting one of my 12" Eclipse in. I used to have two so I think I am going to sell the other one. I am also putting in my 1200 Autotek watt amp and my 4ch amp. My Alpine CD player and my Boston speakers all around.

It all depends on what you are looking for. I like all high quality. Anyone who knows audio knows about Boston Acoutic, Eclipse, and Alpine.

JL also. Great subs and amps. Their full-range speakers aren't spectacular, but they'll get the job done as well.

Here is the picture of the other Amp. This a 4 channel amp, 100 x 4. They other one is a Monoblock 1200 watt MEAN MACHINE. If anyone is looking for a mean amp check out Autotek.

Also from my original setup I have another Eclipse 12" that I want to sell at the right price. They are 450.00 new per sub.

Yes. If you're referring to the S&S setup, www.soundgate.com has the adapter you need.

There is a whole stereo section of the forums here the guys are very helpful with questions many work or have worked in shops.

As far as upgrading your system there are a million ways you can do it. It totally depends on your style of music and if you want to be really loud or if you prefer quality sound or if your rich then both... you can spend anywhere from 100 bucks on just a deck to some people here with $25,000 stereo systems that blow your mind. Totally depends on what you want and what you can afford.

If you have any questions feel free to pm me with them and I will be happy to answer them the best I can

I just got my audio/alarm yesterday. Went with the top-o-tha-line Viper w/ remote start. Audio is Boston's all around with 2 12" Punches in the trunk powered by an 1800W amp (also Rockford). Running a Pioneer premier deck. It's nice, but for some reason, the vanity face plate wouldn't fit around the deck due to the way the console is shaped, so I gotta figure something out.....
