gst engine swap

hey guys was wondering if it would be possible to do a gst engine swap, do most of the parts from the Eclipse engine gst fit in the 2.4 l Ralliart, i took it to a body shop by me, and they said it might, but we would have to do research, if so, this could be an answer to the search for more power ive been looking around for, and if the gst motor dosent fit, what turbo engine would?

thanks

If you're going to attempt a swap, at least use an engine with the correct orientation.

Anything is possible.... Provided you have enough money to fund it. It's possible to put a 400+ hp V8 into very small and light cars... If you can either fab the parts yourself or pay to play... Otherwise the cost effective way for you is to turbo the engine you allready have. It's being done pretty consistantly by at least 3 or 4 methods in 3 different continents.

edit: Oh yeah, you can put a 4g63t into a little british car too with enough money and fabrication...

So yes it can be done, the real question is why?

do u mean the new 3.8L v6 eclipse engine?

just dont know which one you mean. but either way once you get an idea of how much figure it'll be more due to the unexpected. and also think if you put that amount of $$ in this engine you'd probably be faster.

I believe he's referring to the Eclipse GST that was offered from 95-99 (FWD 4G63BT configuration)

It's close to the same hp/tq as the UDSM RA.

IMO just turbo the RA....you wont' look back and it won't rupture your piggy bank.

no,no he is onto something... i will look at alldata here and see if the mounts are close to the same. The engine is about the same size and you can get a VERY built motor and turbo for it for not too much more than an rrm turbo kit.

Street built 4g63t's run around 2 grand and have HUGE power potential. I'm talking about a 6bolt from the 91 gsx, i dont know if you guys know the term but go dsmtuners and search for "crankwalk" if you want to know the difference.

I think it could be very possible, but i'm not sure. If you wanted to put a lot of power in a RA right now, that would be a good way to do it. Those motors are powerhouses and can handle hella boost.

my 2c.

Engine might only be 2g's, but there's still a lot of fab work that's going to be required to use an engine with the complete opposite orientation. You would need a completely new transmission and to rebuild/replace ALL the driveline components. Not to mention finding/creating all new mount points, and relocating anything that's in the way.

sell your car and get a 97+ eclipse, youll save a lot of money, and it probably be more reliable

good luck on finding a good 4g63 motor, i blew the one in my gsx and it was about impossible to find a motor, but found one in canada.....also those motors dont hold up real well, they all need a good aftermarket build

well heres the thing the speed shop, knows a ware house a gst engine is 2gs even, and all the work to make it fit plus the engine would be about 5 grand in total. i know i know ...."why not get a turbo" but the sound of 540 whp and 450 trq appeals very much to me, we already have some evo components, and what many of the people were saying before the gst engine for the 95-99 eclipse is a power house

I just don't believe it. Has the shop even looked at your car? Do they have a FWD transmission to go with said engine?
