What?! I haven't been on for awhile, and every time I come back to read a bit you keep changing your mind! First NA, then turbo... now NA -> Evo?! I wish I could do the same on getting an evo, but I have to work with what I got =(

lmao yes i do change my mind quite frequently. but my idea was to do turbo but then i got a good wakeup call yesterday on how much of a better platform i'd need to get the results i'd want. so instead of having a detuned car i may as well just keep it na and save the 4g's i'd spend on the rrm turbo to just get an evo. i just feel like i need to get the piggy to tune the car or else having all the mods i have it seems wasted.

if i could i would've just sent my ecu to hackish but unfortunately he doesnt have a reflash for the AT RA =/

Talk to Brian at RRM...I just sent him my old piggy when I was running NA. Just tell him you were talking to Jason on Evo Forums and tell him that I told you I just mailed it in to him. He will know what I am talking about. It's the Split Second ECU from last year. It's brand new and hasn't been used!

Awww man. Sad to hear this but it's your choice, but I have to advise on something if you are reeeeaaallly serious about going down the evo path. I'd suggest you end your modifying of the RA now. If you really got beat that bad by just a stock 09 gts and a tibby, with all the NA mods I know you have(which is really disappointing), I don't think it would make much difference if you bought back the piggy and the timing box. Don't waste your money buying back all those electronics if you are just gonna end up getting an evo soon after. Even if there will be a long gap between the time you getting an Evo and now, save your money for the car and use the rest to have fun with it. Good luck on whichever path you choose. Just try and decide now so that you save money in the long run.

I don't mean like lost by car lengths but like they just pulled up like half to full car length. I was just disappointed cause I felt that with the mods I have I would've done better.

Oh, I see. Don't be hard on yourself. The 09 lancer is at an advantage with its cvt with manual shift mode. Same advantage goes for a stick shift. The tiburon has much more torque than ours and keep in mind it's a v6. Don't underestimate those tibbys, they are pretty quick and have lots of potential. At least we still got more aftermarket support for our 4g69 than 9th gen lancer owners do with the 4b12.

I just figured to get the piggy to at least maximize the mods I have but that's an extra 500 I don't know if I want to spend. Aznrico if you go turbo I may buy your piggy off you for a decent price

I heard he wasn't making any reflashes for the AT RA, is this false?

that was the impression i was under. if its not so i would probably consider sending my ecu over to him to save me some money.

back ON TOPIC: basically if you plan on having some fun with this car turbo is the way to go for those of you that are considering this kit. NA just won't cut it for super huge gains. but if you just want a fairly quick DD then i suppose putting every NA mod on the car possible from RRM is a good route but the amount of money/power gained ratio wont be as good as just turbo'ing the car from the start

This statement is very true unless you plan on becoming the next SSP Ralliart which is highly unlikely unless you have the resources. If not then it will take more money like you said to make the car quick NA then it would to just turbo it. In fact you may have a lot of trouble getting the car to have even close to the amount of power NA as a turbo kit could produce. It was the sad truth for 4g94 lancers and apparently is too for us 4g69 lancers as well. Like Raikiri said, to anyone who wants serious speed and power gains, turbo from the start and don't spend money on anything Na if you're just gonna end up turboing later. You'll save money in the long run and won't regret your purchase. Im sad to hear this coming from you Raikiri, but at least you have helped by informing others.
