Ralliart Transmison problems?

Has there been a known problem with our trans? I was doing some searching and saw that RalliartJP was having a problem. The last 2 days I have had problems getting it into 1st and 2nd gear the first couple time I shift. My car under 2,000 miles on it. So Im wondering if its like a cold problem. though it hasn't been all that cold out lately.

so has anyone else been having problems? with anything?

When the transmission is cold in it's warmup it will be hard to shift. It is the same with pretty much every car out there. It shouldn't grind should just be really stiff.
My first 4 or 5 shifts in the morning are pretty bad. Once it reaches operating temp it's fine. Only a few people on this board have complained about major transmission problems.

Thats what I thought. My mustang when I bought it new shifted pretty good. I never trusted my other cars because they were used.

Some people have had synchros go bad.

However, since you're in michigan near me, your problem is that it's too cold outside. Our trannies hate cold. Have patience and let it warm up, and it'll be fine.

Yup....thats what I do. I find that if I warm my car up first its not too bad. I just set her goin' and go make myself a coffee or something.

Yeah, I'm in NW Indiana and it's cold here. It is really hard to shift until everything warms up. Then it shifts really well.

I live in souther CA, and my car has 5000 mi on it. And Guess what, the dealership is taking the tranny out right now, It grinds in first, binds up in reverse and will stay engaged(sometimes) when I'm in neutral. We will find out whats up.

Wow, you don't know crap. They replaced the 2nd gear syncros, syncro hub and springs and the output shaft. And besides, a short throw shifter can't damage a tranny, unless you f up on the install or beat the **** out of the car. Cry me a river.

my had that 'pop' between first and second..then i installed the short throw and all the bushings, base and under-hood.. since then the shifts are always solid and in place.

hm.. i have the opposite problem.. my shifting is fine when it's not warmed, but when it's warmed it sticks, i can't wiggle it when it's in neutral, sometimes i have to double check the gear i'm in because it doesn't shift smoothly anymore, and i have a REALLY hard time getting into reverse. Any ideas? a trip to the Dealer...?
