Exclamation

A stock XRS is 170hp and 127trq.

I believe that's with an INJEN CAI. The 2zz (celica GTS engine) is well known to dyno impressive with just an intake. Upwards of 15whp because of LIFT technology that kicks in @ 6000rpms.

On the XRS, "LIFT" kicks in @ 6200rpms, but it's not a powerful as the GT-S. Ive tangled with an XRS and won, but it's no slouch. XRS Review

I've seen a few street fights with an XRS Corolla. In the hands of a good driver, they are pretty capable in the $20K area. I'd not own one, but to each there own.

if you look at 0-7000rpm range.. it has LESS power than a standard corolla or civic

i am not sure about you.. but i don't like to rev in the 7000-8500rpm range for long.. no matter how "cool" it is

our engine /w light mods (a/f tune, cai) has just as much power, but for 6000 RPM, not 2000.... and there is that thing they call torque.... i think i heard someone say that's important, too.

long story short: if it were a race, both cars would be at the end of their powerbands most of the race anyway. the RA would get the jump by about 1-2 cars in first, then it would stay about the same depending on the drivers, but an RA would slightly pull the entire way due to higher top-end torque. how are the xrs geared? even with tight gearing, that extra 1000 rpms doesnt hurt and might help shave off some of the edge.

i havnt gotten to race one, since every xrs ive seen is driven by fat hatian women. never saw one at the track. its like the scion tC effect (driven by soccer moms). either way, i dont fear =)

They have good gearing, but still no match for a RA. I ran two Xrs's, stock for stock, and won. Especialy with the second one, in which we ran everyway possible: from a roll, from a stop, 40 mph roll, 60 mph roll, top - end and such. Th only way that they do battle is in the 4th to 3rd downshift run and still passed it easily. Later I tried with the Injen intake and the difference was nothing short of astonishing(yes, i used Jeremy Clarkson talk there).

Matter of fact, that was the time I noticed the gain of the CAI

just look at the torque come on that dyno sheet has the xrs at 117 and ours is 160, but with $ you can make a beetle fast
