manual tranny question

My car has about 1300 miles on it but I have noticed something a little funny about the way my car shifts from 1st to 2nd. When I put the clutch in to shift to 2nd, it feels like the shifter literally pops out of 1st into neutral. It has not popped out without me touching it, but it definately moves out of 1st alot faster than it does any other gear.

Could this be signs of a synchro problem or something else? I wouldnt think there should be any probs at 1300 miles, but I have never owned a mistu before.

I don't think anything is wrong, that's gonna happen if you stretch your 1st gear out and try and shift around 6k or so maybe just a little higher, i noticed that too but it only seems to happen to me when i take 1st up that high....

Every once in a while first pops out really fast and makes a popping noise, only when I go to shift though not on it's own. I think a lot of other people have this problem.

it is not bothersome if I am not the only one its happening too. If its not a sign of tranny failure or anything else expensive then I dont really care about it them

it goes away if you get the shifter base bushings and a short throw shifter

I am planning on getting that in the future, but i want to wait until I get a few more miles on the car first. My luck I would change to a short shifter and the tranny would go out with no warranty. I am sure Mitsu would try to say that a short shifter is the direct problem for anything going wrong with a tranny. fucers!

I installed the "SpeedSource" under hood shifter bushings and it made my shifting feel so much nicer! And a dealer would prob even notice it, because it looks alot like stock.

Replaces the spongy rubber bushings on your shift cable and shift base with brass ones. Removes all the flex and sloppiness from your shifter. This should be a mod that everyone does, regardless of whether they want to keep their car stock or not.

your motor/tranny are moving...so it kinda "throws" your shifter when you shift when your at higher RPMS, nothing to wrry about, its just the design...helps you shift faster is anything

Yeh I have the same problem.

Thought it was something to be worried about.

After having an exSCCA driver take my car for a spin and he didnt say anything.. I left it alone.

My mom drove my car around.. never mentioned it.. she drives nice though.

wooof! I tought that I was also the only one with that problem!
the car have 3500km and it always did that!

On first I tought that it might be because I take to the drag strip too much! Now I know I dont have to worry about it!

thanks guys!

Aside from all the shifter bushings and mods that you can do to reduce 1st gear kick-out, there is a problem with the transmission and I've had it fixed for quite sometime. Honestly guys if you want all that funky BS fixed once and for all so you can drive the car like ya stole it send me a PM.
