internal mods hp gains?

hey, first i know there is a thread for internal mods, but my computer sucks and i cant find it, so let me start this one.....

Do you gain HP from internal mods or does it just make your engine stronger and more stable for boost gains... which parts woud give u better hp gains

and which parts for other engines will fit on our mivec? where can i find them? thanks

Removing the balance shafts would be good for some power. I don't know who has done this and if it possible although being a 4G based engine it should.

You can raise compression for More N/A horsepower or most times lower it between 8-9:1 Ratio for boost.

Rods, Pistons, Valves, Porting and Polishing. However that stuff does get expensive.

You wont really see THAT much gains modding internally, without the base mods done first. You will see some gains, but you know the whole "in conunction" theory. Nonetheless, are you staying aspirated or are you going forced induction? That way, I can tell you what you can do internally to gain some horses.

I've got piggy, Injen CAI and RRM Axleback exhaust. I will be putting on Joe's crank pulley. My question is, what do you think the gains would be from porting and polishin the manifold? Big enuf gain to justify price?

I think RRM said it gives like 7hp or something.. by the time you do all these mods, it would be worth just going turbo..

stuff like port and polishing is a "complimetary" mod... it just adds a bigger percentage to every mod you do. on stock it may add 4 hp, CAI +P&P = 10 HP... TUrbo'd probably a 10-15 hp..

i may be building them a little but it is possible.

if u just want a simple port/polish, ur local shop should be able to do it for u in a copule hours and shouldnt charge u $200. Call around and see what you can get =) They can probably even match the head for that or just a bit more

Internally, it depends on what your budget is. You can get forged internals if you want big boost, but you can P&P the head, (assuming you can find them) oversized valves, titanium retainers, performance vavle springs, lighten the crank etc. All good mods to gain power, but NOT necessary in the grand scheme of things.

Personally, I would advise to stop with the NA mods and just save your money. That RRM piggyback will be useless to you turbo, unless you send it back to be reflashed.

CAI wouldn't be useless you need all the air u can get when its being force fed in but since after intake it is presurized the temp of the air charge rises then gets cooled by the intercooler a SRI would do the same job. Somebody plz let me know if im way off base with that im just working on theory here not practise.

The turbo system uses different piping and would not be able to use the CAI... that's why it would be useless... If you are going custom turbo go for low compression internal mods like 8.5:1 pistons... you will be able to boost more... but if you put those in there before you get the turbo you might as well drive a horse and buggy... 4G63 parts will not fit our cars...
