Piggyback Pros and Cons
You'll still pass smog. You won't have a CEL, and your emissions should actually be a touch cleaner due to burning less fuel.
Pros:
More power and a more smooth powerband
Engine doesn't run as rich (cleaner emissions?)
Better throttle response
Better gas milage
Cons:
More expensive gas
Have to splice into some wires going into your ECU
That's about it.

Actually i believe that the amounth of tickets you recieve is directly proportional with the weight of your right foot. So you should not blame it in the PB.

Seriously though, how hard is it to install one of these? Never having done any real auto-electrical kinda stuff (changing bulbs and fuses is about the extent of my experience there)
is it fairly straight forward? And would I be likely at all to really screw things up trying to install it?
Oh and in the event of something going wrong with the car after installing - is it easy to remove so the dealer won't raise eyebrows and set fire to my warranty?

Hey Ryan your best person to talk to will be RPW as he has wired in heaps of the GReddy units into cars he has the experience and has it down to a fine art form these days so you won't be spending days waiting for someone to wire it up you will also need to have it tuned which he uses Speedworks to do as they have the most experience in doing it... voiding warranty ??? I don't know I mean yes it changes the way the car works - more effiecently.... but I really don't care too much for warranties they are only as good as the paper they are written on and how they are interperated

Sounds very cool, I'd say you are right and thats the best way to go- he sell the computers too? Or do you need to order them from RRM or whoever?
Thursday night and I'll be home to drive something that isnt a white toyota 4x4 yay!!
David has the Greddy in stock all the time as well as all the other harnessess that are needed as well as what ever programs to kick start it... my thoughts are for you to either swing by his work shop and say hi... he will give you all the info that you will need and show you all the options for you if you are wanting to keep the warranty in tact
Everyone likes the RRM piggybacks. I havent worked with them but it seems they make people happy. I prefer a variable piggyback that you can adjust with your mods however, like an Emanage or my "poor man's Emanage" the SAFC / SITC combo. Your choice tho.

The way I wired mine in, I could unplug it and remove the unit and have the wiring back to stock function in about 1 minute. The only signs that it was ever there would be a male/female spade connector pair on the airflow wire, and three shielded male spade connector pigtails hanging for the other three wires. You'd really have to be looking for them to see them.
My only question for RRM is about power draw. The red wire from the Piggyback is connected to a constant source of power, and the ground wire used is always grounded, which means this thing is always on. How much power does it draw? I know I shouldn't worry about it if I drive the car every day, but is this something I should disconnect if I go on vacation for a week?
Hmm.. I suppose I could go out and hook up my ammeter in line with the unit to check the draw...
