need advice on exhaust plan

I am looking to get the RRM downpipe then having a muffler shop chop off the end of the DP to weld on a high-flow cat to keep it legal. After that should I use the stock resonater or go with some kind of performance one? I not even really sure what a resonater does for our cars. Then I am just going to buy the magnaflow muffler and have it welded unless I can get a used RRM axelback. So far my only other performance mod is the Injen CAI. Is this exhaust system too much considering my lack of other mods. Or would it be better for my engine if I got the piggy first?

no definately get the exhaust done first.... that way when you start doing real mods to the intake side of things you will feel the gains better... but for the time being your gains will be noticeable but it will be amplified when you get some decent headers as that will be your biggest restriction and your CAI will really start to work better - at the moment you have good intake air flow but poor exhaust flow - these 2 things need to be matched better to optimise possible power increases and better throttle response

^^^^Our header isnt that restrictive. The exhaust manifold is the least of your worries. If I were you i would do engine before exhaust. Just get another resonator put on there if you get the downpipe. And make sure to get the axleback muffler or else your car will sound like crap.

i was going to get the same muffler that is on the RRM axelback, but just the muffler and have it welded to the car.

What does the resonator do on our cars? My truck did not have one of those so I have no idea what its for.

people tend to trash ther evo exahust here when they mount borla (or such) is not an exact fit you need to make the cat-back end of the evo setup by changing the 'bracket' from 2.75 to 2.25 so is an easy fit...

is there a need for an aftermarket resonator? Do our stock one cause unwanted restriction compared to say a magnaflow resonator?

ours is a flow-through the benefit of a magnaflow is that it gives you a deeper tone...
