Clutch Sqeak in engine bay?

My car makes a constant sqeaking noise when the car is running. It sounds exactly like a bad belt but, it's comming from the other side of the engine. I noticed yesterday that when I push the clutch in, it stops making noise. When I let the clutch out, it takes a few seconds for the noise to build back up to its original volume. Any ideas as to what's going on?

Try moving the clutch release fork by hand when the engine is running and it's making the noise. If you push on it and the noise stops, your throwout bearing is probably making the noise.

I'll check that when it stops raining.

Is that something you have to drop the tranny to fix/replace?

it is , but they will only open the tranny if they here the noise for their selves, and can varify it as being the barring. mine is doing the same thing but eveytime i bring the car ther it stops doing it or they say that they dont here or feel anything wrong with the car. their real a-holes at my dealer , hopfully u wont have that problem.

I have the same problem... they replaced my throw-out bearing and it is worse than before... They had my car for a week... I've put 15000 miles on it since I first noticed it and got it "fixed" and it hasn't affected anything... It's just kind of annoying... They quote it as an 8 hr job... I think they just spread it over 5 days... I don't go there anymore... It is a warranty issue too...

So I can tollerate the noise. But is this something I should get fixed or can I let it go without causing further damage?

(I'll still get it checked out to make sure it is the throw bearing)

i finally got the dealer to here the noise (its not the barring) like i thought it was.
the dealer said it was one of two things or both ( defective clutch splyn or reverse idler gear) its covered under warrenty and their fixen mine next week.

I guess that's what happens when you go to a real mechanic...
