good points, I was just referencing the size difference as an example. I am not claiming to be an exhaust guru by any means, and you definitely know what you are talking about. I just go by the research I have done SEARCHING (for the noobs ) on evom and the internet in general.

At least you agree that (or I infer from your last statement about 200 bhp) until you are getting the car up there a bit you would only benefit from changing the restritcive points(cat, dp and muffler) which means I am on target with most of what I am trying to get across. If you checked out my mods you will see I have done exactly that, dp, cat, and muffler. I am thinking about going to 2.5 catback (if your price is right ) because I don't plan on doing anything else to the engine side, including upgrading to the new header and dp from RRM. Those, imo, are not necessary with the mods that I have. If I go crazy and doen't end up in an Evo I will purchase everything on the planet I can get or have made for the car (NA all the way), and then I will be ready to open up the header and downpipe some more.

I like it when lots of information gets put into threads like this. sometimes I search and all I see is two sentence comments all the way down the page.

UPDATE:

The muffler is still holding up and I have now welded the whole system, no more clamps. This made it a little less raspy and a whole lot quieter than it was before.

I will be adding a 22" magnaflow resonator next week or the week after and will update on the sound then. I am sure the Ebay muffler will remain after the new resonator, although I could be wrong. I like the way it sounds for the most part, but it is raspy up high in the RPMs. I am hoping the resonator fixes this.

Installed a 30" glasspack muffler in place of my factory resonator, I am finally pleased with the sound.

The magnaflow resonator was no longer available from the site I found it so cheap at, so I bought a "cherry-bomb" glasspack muffler from JCWhitney. The Ebay muffler looked better when I bought it than this glasspack did. It definitely serves it's purpose though.

I have no raspiness at all anymore. When I get up in the RPM's it still screams out loud, but it is subdued now instead of sounding like open headers. If you want to go the cheap way buy an ebay muffler, a long glasspack resonator, and a highflow cat. It sounds good now.

I bought a cheap welder (around $300 for everything I needed, including face shield) and did all the work myself. Including the downpipe and the $30 it cost me to have the high flow cat welded last year that brings my exhaust total to around $750 with tax and shipping, only about $450 was for parts. Or I could have bought the RRM bolt ons for a little over $1000 with shipping, but then I wouldn't have a welder to use on the car.

its nice to see other people get creative, and try their own ideas, especialy when the outcome is fantastic! nice work!

by the way, still going strong with my cheapy 3ar exhaust from pepboys, almost 3 years now and it still sounds good, still shines, and has not a single sign of rust any were.

I can do pics, but the video I am not sure. there are more pics from the same day as I posted above, but none from last weekend. I will climb under there when I get home and snap a few if I remember.

If my digitial camera has a mic in plug I can try using the mic that came with my sony home theater system. I am not sure of the quality of the mic though, it is used to calibrate speakers and is not an actual microphone. I'll see what I can do.
