Spec Stage 1 Clutch

So I've done my research on this, I was offered $450CND + tax for a Spec Stage 1 clutch. Quite a few Evolution drivers already have switched to a Spec clutch. My search on EvoM did not show any Lancer Ralliarts with the Spec clutch, just wondering if there are any hidden ones out there?

I also looked for opinions for people who have them, but the search did not turn out that well, people just replied as, "I like it...". I know the stage 1 clutch will make the pedal stiffer than stock, but considering this is my first car and first clutch upgrade, what would I expect if I were to upgrade to a stage 1? I understand it's personal preference but any additional feedback from Evo or Lancer drivers is appreciated.

Furthermore, when I told them my car uses the 2.4L engine the dealer responded that the Lancer Spec clutch that works with the 2.0L non turbo engine is compatible with our system. Just wondering if this can be confirmed?

Thanks in advance guys!

The 4G64 is a 2.4L. Looking at Clutchmaster's website, none of the 2.4L Eclipse clutch part numbers match the Ralliart one. Not a definitive end-all answer, though.

The dealer did ask Spec(that's what they told me) and Spec Cluthes told them it would work with the 2.4L... however, I'm still not that confident about it and turn to the likes of EvoM gods. Show me the light!!!!!11

AdamRA: I posted the link to the homepage, it's in the first post @ the bottom

Stage 3 for a N/A car isn't that a bit of overkill ?

Most stage 1 should be stronger than OEM otherwise no one would bother buying stage 1. I would personally go with works clutch/flywheel combo.

I plan on F/I'ing my car, thats why I want a new clutch in the first place.

My little research showed that the stage 1 would grab a lot more, and be able to handle more pressure/power from the engine.

PR_mivec, thanks for the info on that.

I would look for ACT/Works, I was just offered this from a local shop thats why I brought this up. I'll definately check out the registry for your install pics.

In Spec you trust PR_Mivec... and in PR MIVEC I TRUST.

I take your word for it PR_Mivec. But seriously you think that it would be fundamental for me to use Stage 3 instead of a Stage 1 clutch for F/I engine? Consider that I will be using this car as a daily driver the majority of the times.

Thanks PR, you're very helpful.

remember the stage 3 is hard BUT we have an hydraulic system so you will not have a hard time with the pedal.....
remember also that you will need to break in all clutches one broken in the clutch will not chatter a lot (it will but not enought to get pissed)

i used the car daily and never ever gave me a problem

look at this combination
stage 3, solid mounts & damper.. GOOOD 60ft times... 2.0, 1.9 2.1 depending on skill

Sweet. Yea the chatter on the stock clutch makes me cry.

I love the language barrier.....

I'm so easy on my clutch it will probably last at least 120,000 kms (knocking on wood)

If PR_EXMIVEC says spec is ok then go for it I trust him
