Stock Cat on RRM DP

Hey i'm still waiting for a new oxygen sensor for my car but i started it up and can tell it's going to be way too loud for my taste. Can i just get the stock cat welded into the new downpipe or will that pretty much rob all the power the downpipe is giving me and defeat the purpose of the DP? Will it atleast quiet it down a lot so i'm not embarresed to drive it through my nieghborhood? I'm just looking for a really cheap way to quiet it down, a HF cat will cost me $100+install, a 22 inch resonator will cost me like $70+install so this option is looking pretty cheap. So what's your opinion on this? Thanks

Highflow cat will bring the volume down to near where it was with the stock downpipe. Resonator will deepen the tone and remove the tinny sound, but the volume will still be there. Personally I'd go for the resonator, as I don't think deep and loud is so bad.

Where can you find the cheapest resonator? I found a 22 inch magnaflow that was around $70 bucks, i'm trying to go the cheapest route i can go. So if i get the stock cat welded in will that rob most of the HP that the downpipe is giving me?

You get what you pay for, cheap resonators sound cheap, too. Get the longest magnaflow resonator you can fit on that pipe (24"?) If you decide to go the cat route, invest in a highflow, otherwise you might as well put the stock downpipe back on.

Thanks a lot, you're saving me a lot of money. So this one sounds fine? I don't really care how it sounds as long as under normal driving conditions it isn't loud like it is with just the DP, i won't even drive around with it like that.

you have to eliminate the cat and the reso. and find someone that works on the "inspection center" (or what ever is called) and pass your car with other car reading

thats all
