dyno tuning questions for the experts

i have read many posts about tuning, going to the dyno, and piggyback software etc. i've never been to a dyno before, do they tune the car or just run it on the dyno and give you the results with air/fuel readings from the exhaust?? i do not own a laptop PC so i have no way of using the software from the rrm piggyback to tune it. when i do go to a dyno, should i just schedule one or two runs because there is really nothing i can do to the car right now to tune it, or is there something that can be done by the crew running the dyno. can they use the rrm software on their PC to tune it. is that a normal thing shops do? thanks for any advice.

Most shops with dynos will rent it to you by the hour and do as many runs in that hour as needed while they tune it. From what i've gathered unless you really know what you're doing its not worth trying yourself. As for tuning with a stock ECU, call a dyno shop near you but i doubt they can do much, if anything, for you. If you dont want to tune most charge for sets of pulls (2or3 shop dependant) and they give you you're results.
