Now i'm confused about what engine we have

So i went to a prts place online they say we have a 4g64. I thought we have a 4g69.

check it out..Just reassure me..thanks

I've found that to be the case with many automotive stores. They instantly assume that since it's a 2.4L Lancer, it must be the 4G64.... 'cause Mitsu isn't capable of making new engines. I think NAPA lists it as the 64, too.

Yes, the 4G63 is 2.0 and the 4G64 and 4G69 are 2.4. Here's how Mitsu's engine codes work, using 4G63 as the example:

4 - cylinders
G - Iron block, gasoline (I'm assuming, in the new engines, B - gasoline aluminum block or something like that)
6 - engine series.
3 - engine model

Basically, all 4G6* engines start off with the same block, then it's modified to the specific engine model.

And there may be differences in the same engine model. AFAIK, not all 4G63s are the exact same.

so what does an evo have and does a rallyart / lancer have?

EVO 4G63 ?

i would be happy if you guys point me somewhere I can read about mitsubishi engines...

I mean if the lancer and rallyart and evo engine is a 4G63, then what makes them different? a turbo slapped onto the evo?

Im trying to learn so please dont flame me..
